Can diet cause SIBO?
Took an 8 week course of
rifaximin
(550 mg, twice a day) and assumed all was well. SIBO seems to have come back this year (positive breath test), and I am repeating the course of antibiotics.

Any positive experience with antibiotics for IBS
I don't mind persevering there is a prospect, and this https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3264894/ (if you can access it) suggests good outcomes e.g. for
Rifaximin
which I have not tried.

Methane SIBO
My gastroenterologist suggested staying on
Rifaximin
bit I don't think it is the best way forward. I would rather work with an integrative specialist to find and address a root cause. There are a lot of SIBO Clinics but I would rather go by a recommendation. Thank you. Sasha

Lost and beyond devastated
Although the treatment for H.E. is Lactulose, Enemas, suppositories and
Rifaximin
combinations to try to eliminate the ammonia toxins, there is also a drug called L.O.L.A (L-Ornithine, L-Aspartate) that my husband was trying and it was working and reducing the ammonia level, for my husband though, sadly

It's like Watching Someone Dissappear..
Apparently
rifaximin
is an antibiotic (never knew that) so after a nebuliser and having his bloods checked he was sent home being g told to take his
rifaximin
as prescribed as will help infection if it doesn't get any better go back in a few days.

SIBO!!! But fearing taking antibiotics, especially Neomicyn… I’ve heard of terrible side effects ( tinnitus and hearing loss).
If you would like to consider antibiotics, I would suggest a combination of both
RIFAXIMIN
and NEOMYCIN for a total of 7 days." Have any of you tried them? Advice? results? THANK YOU> 🙏🙏

Changes, Meds, symptoms but hopeful!
Fast forward varices have gone 🤞and now a switch of medication they've added
rifaximin
to lactulose and thiamine (and fragmin for clot and insulin for diabetes) but they've stopped the spironolactone which he can only have 3 days on then 4-5 days off until he sees his consultant and doctor in a week

Root Cause
I have taken
Rifaximin
but still showing symptoms. I have read a lot on root cause for SIBO as being the only sure fire way of ridding yourself of the bacterial overgrowth but could the same thing be said for IBS.

Rifaximin Side Effects
Hi all, I've been taking 550mg of Rifaxamin for around 6 months. I'm now struggling with joint pain especially in my knees and elbows, and my leg and arm muscles constantly feel tight and ache. Has anyone else had similar problems?

2-My
rifaximin
course is completed, but I stopped metronidazole due to discomfort. Was it necessary to continue, and can I benefit from continuing with herbal antibiotics? 3-I heard that Atrantil pills are therapeutic for methane gas. Can anyone with experience share insights on this?

Always trust your instincts
Now back at home he's had
rifaximin
added to his meds and they've stopped the pregablin all together on his discharge sheet for time being probably because it does actually make husband individually very very tired and he sleeps pretty much all day on it. since being home hes more alert and mobile now

Hepactic Encepahalopathy and DVLA
Hi, Following surgery in Oct 2022 (TIPPS procedure) I now have to take
Rifaximin
(550mg twice daily) and Lactulose to prevent confusion etc caused by encepahalopathy. Since taking it, I do not suffer with confusion, tiredness or anything that would affect my ability to drive.

Fibroscan reading
Given that I haven't had a drink since December 2022, and am careful over diet, medication (
rifaximin
) and vitamin regimes, I asked if the letter contained further information and was told to contact the Gastro unit at the hospital for a copy of the letter the GP practice has received.
