Mastectomy distress
Had my mastectomy last week and I’m having the dressing and last drain out tomorrow. When I went for the first check up Monday, I got very upset and couldn’t look at the scar and asked for it to be recovered until tomorrow, I thought it would be fine and I’d not care about losing the breast if the cancer

lower back pain and right hip pain especially lying in bed
I had a DEXA scan just over 2 years ago as part of breast cancer treatment. This identified I had osteoporosis in my spine, I'm not sure of the scores or exactly where but I was told my hips are fine. I have had back problems on and off for years but generally with a visit to a chiropractor and exercise

Anyone out there with recurrent non-metastatic breast cancer?
Hi everyone, I'm new here and I hope you can help me. I was first diagnosed in 2009 with stage 2 IDC(invasive ductal carcinoma) in my right breast. Had a lumpectomy, chemo (ACT) and 6 weeks of radiation. In March 2013, I found another lump in the same breast. Had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction

Further Update
Hi Following on from my previous update, I have now had a conversation with my GP regarding my follow up Dexa Scan result and it did not go well. The advice was still to take AA and this was put across very strongly. My GP is very good and I know she has my best interest at heart but I still declined

Advice on treatment for osteoporosis.
Hi, I’m new here and this is my first post. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2015 after I sustained a right hip fracture following a fall. DEXA scan showed T.score -3.1 spine; -2.6 femoral neck; -2.9 left hip. I was started on Adcal-D3 and alendronic acid. I stopped the Alendronate after 6 months

Hsg test
So finally I got sense out my GP surgery who have agreed to refer me for this test (long story but I had a battle on my hands). No guarantees they will agree to investigations though. I've requested the test as I'm nearly 39 and not once been pregnant. Prior to my OH's vasectomy he fathered two children

New GP
Thought I would post an update as today I had a meeting with my new GP. She was very knowledgeable about PMR, had done a thesis on PMR while working in Edinburgh years ago. She praised this forum very highly and congratulated me on finding it so promptly, said the experts on this forum would keep me

Novel methods for mapping the cavernous nerves during radical prostatectomy.
The article below was published four years ago. Has there been progress in technologies to definitively assess whether nerves have been "spared" and "healing" is taking place following a prostatectomy? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26256860

Men with Prostate Cancer can be Spared Radiotherapy after Surgery
This large RCT found that early salvage radiotherapy (SRT) is not inferior to 'standard' treatment with adjuvant RT (ART) with respect to biochemical failure in patients with pT3 disease and/or positive surgical margins (SMs) after radical prostatectomy (RP). https://www.esmo.org/Press-Office/Press-Releases

One year wait for reconstruction?
Hi, I am sure there must be a few of you out there that can answer my question:- "Why is it that some ladies can have a reconstruction at the same time as mastectomy, yet some of us have to wait a year?" Is there something that I am just not getting or being told? Take care all x

Hoping for the best.
Just three years ago, I had small stage 1 cancer followed by lumpectomy and radiation. All was done so it would not return. About six months ago, it was back and crazy. I'm now taking Ibrance and Anastrozole. It has been difficult, but fortunately, I'm tolerating the medication quite well. Now the

Watchful Waiting Worked
Nearly 3 yrs ago I chose radiation over radical prostatectomy to halt aggressively growing cancer. My PSA following radiation is now down to .020. I am grateful to my urologist and to those who have advised me and executed an apparently successful procedure. I wish those who are not so fortunate courage

Great news and busy times
Sorry it has been a while since I posted but lots has been happening. On May 30 I had a bilateral mastectomy. July 8 I had to go back in because the right tissue expander had staph infection. On August 2 teachers started back to work in classrooms and kids started the 12. On Aug. 17 I got the results

Are supplements worth it?
So cycle 1 I got 18 eggs on long protocol. 16 mature, 13 of which fertilised (good fertilisation rate) but only 3 made it to day 5. I was only taking folic acid first round and developed OHSS. I finally got to fet which failed with a 1x4AB. I was and still am devastated. I have high amh 45.2 at age 38
