25 years of daily heavy drinking
hi, I have been one of the lucky ones, and I’m not writing this to gloat, I’ve read many of the stories on here about the effects of drinking, and it has been through reading these and re-assessing my own lifestyle that I was able to finally go to the doctor and tell him the truth about my drinking.

Good resources regarding vagal AFIB?
Does anyone have any good resources (articles, YouTube videos) directed to vagally-mediated AFIB (the type that occurs after a large meal or while sleeping)? I believe my AFIB was triggered by endurance athletics (I used to do long bike rides and probably overdid it and stressed my body too much).

The lonely cycle
I've struggled with anxiety and depression my entire life but I spent most of my 20s using drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism. I still have some substance abuse issues but the more I deal with those the more overwhelming the depression and anxiety is. I can't seem to keep my home clean or up on

I had my first appointment with an endo specialist today. I think I'm still in shock at the whole situation to be honest and am trying to sort things out in my head. I've just turned 40 and there's no history of endo in my family. I've been diagnosed with endo and adenomyosis. The endo is between

Carvedilol
Hi, I've had my second (annual) gastroscopy since my Cirrhosis was diagnosed last year in February. The results were pretty much as the first one, so no change. The doctor who performed this test, different to the first one, suggested that my GP put me on Carvedilol. GP prescribed it and I have now

Looking for TKR advice
Hello everyone. I’m a 55 year old male who has had knee problems for the majority of my life. I think it originated from sports injuries as a schoolboy but I remember twisting it while at work when I was about 17 too. I have a long history of having treatment for knee problems including 2 or 3 arthroscopy

hello darkness
I come now feeling depressed and defeated. I feel mostly sad than mad. I am angry about life. I had enough of people breaking my heart, by leaving me to start their new life as an adult. I am hurting deeply. Just as a background about me, I have high functioning autism, bipolar 2, and have suicidal thoughts

Fatigue
Since being diagnosed with an inflammatory disorder three years ago I have suffered with various symptoms most of which are now well controlled and stable. The severe pain in my joints and other parts of my body and the excruciatingly painful headaches thankfully seem to be kept at bay by medication

Fatty Liver
Hello. I have recently been diagnosed with fatty liver. I have been a heavy drinker for at least 25 years. My question is: How long will it take for my liver to recover if I abstain from alcohol completely? I understand that there is no set figure but any advice is appreciated. Thanks for your help

Higgyandpiggy
Hi, I have had a TKR to both in the last 2 years. A friend lent me a cuff called a Cryocuff which compresses and cools the knee. It really helped. They are expensive to buy but they canbe hired. I was given crutches with special handles, designed for arthritic hands and they helped too. Everything

Total knee replacement
19 days post op - been very tough especially when COVID thrown into the mix! My muscle tone wasn’t great pre-op but is now nonexistent. Is it possible to build muscle tone with PMR? Without PMR it’s possible to build good muscle tone with regular exercises but no matter how frequently I do my post op

PERIODIC LIMB MOVEMENT DISORDER
I have not shared for a while. I would like to report that I have been taking the iron supplement every other day with orange juice. Also am taking 300 Gabapentin. I did a sleep study last year and it showed that the PLMD is not disturbing my sleep as it is now at a moderate amount. The sleep study

My mother is the person I like the least.
I have had the best moments of my life when I wasn't with my family. I also believe that they are kind of bad luck for me. Because if I had a chance at choosing, i would choose only my sister again for the next lifetime. I feel that my father although loves me but has had his own fights going forward

I think I have PTSD
I consistently have intense nightmares to the point that I have to take medication for it (Prazosin.) I don't understand why I keep having nightmares but when I check the symptoms I have nearly all of them. My nightmares are usually about me still being in high school having to redo my senior year even
