45000 ventricular beats in 24h
Here is my short story. The first time I noticed a heart rhythm disorder it was in pregnancy 21 years ago (I am now 46). Childbirth was risky but we both survived and after that I forgot about arrhythmias. I would occasionally measure my blood pressure at the health facility where I work and the staff

Hi, I’m new to this site so am looking for some advice please. I had my 2nd catheter ablation almost 6 weeks ago now. I had persistent AF which made me very breathless when walking even short distances and especially going up stairs/any incline (I was pretty fit pre-AF and did lots of walking, some

Pace and Ablate for Persistent A fib - Your Experiences?
He has put me on waiting list( 4 weeks wait) for a CRT device and then 4 weeks later a
AV
node
ablation
. Although I went through all the pros and cons for hours and agonised over the decision ( see previous posts) I felt at peace with this decision for pace/ablate over an ablation.

Chest pain/pressure 3 weeks post-ablation
I (M, 33) had cardiac ablation for ventricular tachycardia. After the procedure, I felt weak but no real pain other than a little around my insertion points in my femoral arteries. 2 weeks after the procedure, I went on a 4-mile walk (which was too long), and that evening my heart started racing to

Woo hoo heart surgery 🫀
Asking for anyone’s experience of surgical ablation as opposed to catheter ablation? Was told yesterday by cardiologist that my case has been reviewed by local teaching hospital with the EP team & they hope to do a surgical ablation (if I want it). Now some people would not opt for surgical treatment

Exercise after cardiac ablation
Hello! I'm 7 days post ablation for atrial flutter. Feel good mostly, a little breathless occasionally. Pre ablation I was doing 30 mins yoga and walking 3 miles + most days. I'm really looking for advice on getting back to walking and yoga. I've tried a couple of walks, but I'm tiring very fast. Thank

Atrial Myopathy vs. AF
Found this very interesting research article on the etiology of AF and it’s relationship to atrial myopathy & stroke, with possible tests to weed out candidates for anti-coagulation. It also discusses patients with atrial myopathy without AF who might be at risk. Should be of particular interest to

Heavy periods (sorry it's a long post)
Hi, I have always had horrible heavy and painful periods and really want them to stop, I just can't cope with it. The problem is that I never seem to be taken seriously, I always feel like I'm basically being told to grow up and deal with it because it's unpleasant for everyone. But it isn't unpleasant

. Having given up all alcohol, which I used to really enjoy I have very infrequent episodes of AF. I have replaced my Gin and Tonic with a non alcoholic spirit and sugar free tonic.

SVT treatment
I had been suffering from intermittent palpitations and racing heart with exercise so the cardiologist had a monitor fitted for 14 days. The results lead the consultant to diagnose SVT and the recommendation is catheter ablation. I have been told that the procedure has some small associated risks and

Slow recovery
I'm new to this this site. I am 12 days out from having a cardiac ablation. I feel, it is taking me longer to "feel like myself" then what I read on the internet. Still feel discomfort in my chest and shoulder blades. Still feel breathless. Is it too much rest? Prescribed 80 mg of omeprazole which
