Mental health
Hi all, This post is not arthritis related....however I am really struggling with my mental health lately, feeling constantly down and no motivation to do anything in my free time apart from go to work. I do suffer with Rheumatoid arthritis but it's manageable, just wondering if anyone else feels like

RA now linked to oral bacterial health.
Apparently gum disease, bacteria can enter the bloodstream and or create 'citrullinated proteins', that go to joints and initiate an auto immune reaction. The body immune system sees these protein things, and attacks the joint tissue. I was wondering if PMR may also be an infection related causation

Imaging Advice
So here's my question: After being on the high levels of PRED that I've been on since AUG, is there any kind of imaging that can be done to help evaluate the current state of my
arteritis
? If so, what options do I have?

Request sedation for a cortisone injection
So today I got some more bad news. I had my hip replacements checked as my newest one has been causing me a lot of pain. On my CT it showed that I have arthritis in my sacroiliac joint. Yet again, another joint that is either dysplastic or has arthritis. Did I mention I had two hip replacements at 25

Tendon ruptures in hand due to long-term RA
I'm 67 and things have reached a chronic stage in my left, dominant hand due to several tendon ruptures affecting middle and ring fingers, which I can no longer extend. I'm now on the Orthopaedic surgeon's operating list, but I am very scared about how I will cope post-operatively, since I already have

Update: Myofascial Pain Syndrome
I had posted (I believe to PMRPro) a few days ago about my symptoms with regard to trigger points or fascia issues in my back. My daughter went over my back gently yesterday. There is a muscle just below the ribs on the right side which is so spasmed it can be seen as swollen above my spine (I have pics

omega 3 supplement and methotrexate
Hello to you all . I am newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and am due to start methotrexate in a couple of days. I am a vegetarian and take an omega 3 supplement. Will it be a problem taking the omega 3 supplement and methotrexate? Any advice much appreciated and thanks.

Hi :) I have suffered with plaque Psoriasis since the age of 12 (onset = Trauma related due to being hit by a car at that age & fracturing my pelvis ) (im now 50 years old) My skin Psoriasis has very fortunately been under control for over a year now, since finding out I was vitD deficient & treatment

Was I wise
Currently on 3.5mg. Rheumatoid arthritis has shown itself in both hands and is very painful. GP said 'I could give you a steroid injection but I don't expect you want that'. I said not - the word 'steroid' frightened me as I am afraid it will be play havoc with the Pred. Was I right to reject his offer

Hot flashes?
Am having ever more hot flashes and sweating around my neck over last several months. Could it be the steroids? In the distant past, was relying on welbutrin for depression but got hot flashes and changed to escatolepram. In the last few years I started taking a small dose of welbutrin in addition

Can you 'demand' Tocilizumab for GCA?
I was diagnosed with PMR in January 23, responded well to steroids (15mg) but quickly developed GCA symptoms (severe headache pain, blurred vision and jaw claudication) when these were reduced to 12.5mg after 3 weeks and 'normal' CRP/ESR tests. I was referred to Ambulatory care but an ultrasound showed

Tocilizumab
Hi. Has anyone had Tocilizumab injections for pmr? I've been looking at recent research which seems to suggest favourable outcomes for pmr sufferers who have problems tapering prednisolone.
