Am I the Only One?

Hey Everyone....I've had some psychotic episodes where I've heard and seen things that weren't there. My psychiatrist is aware and we're working with meds, but it's scary. I don't have the episodes all the time, but I never know if what I'm hearing or seeing is real. I already feel so alone in my journey with anxiety and depression that adding this element really makes me feel crazy. Does anyone else out there have this?

Hello and welcome! I've never been in your position but can totally understand how off-putting and terrifying what your describing could be. I wanted to chime in because I'm not sure why people don't seem to frequent this board often, but in the Anxiety and Depression forum you will find there's always folks active there who can lend support, insight, or at lend least a kind ear. Good luck.

I think the very nature if the this board is why it's not as active. Those of us with MDD that is often chronic in nature really don't do well with recieving and giving pep talks and have you tried this isms.... We been through it all and heard it all.

Hi Woolybluecurl,

Thank you for your post. 👍

Dissociation is one of the worst things that happens in my mind. The irrational part quickly overrides the logical part where control of thinking and feeling lives.

I have been encouraged to keep a diary of where, when, the content and how long an episode lasts. The theory is that by documenting iimmediately we feel control returning to our life. O f course it also helps our treating person understand the circumstances and our lived experiences better.

Hopefully, the work you do with your psychiatrist will bring you some relief. 🐈‍⬛

P.s. It's good to have someone in the older aage Group here. The over 60s are few in number yet have so much experience and wisdom to offer
