ADHD is my superpower

Today my ADHD impressed everyone at work. We were planning the summer camp activities. I told the rest of the staff that I was going to start it. Some of them offered to help but I smiled as I said:

- No, it'll be done in 30 minutes

- But it's all the summer, history themed it's very specific - other replied

29 minutes later I came in with all the planification done and perfectly organized.

What did they say?

- Wow, that's magic

- You even planned extra activities in case there is spare time

- How is possible that someone can have so many ideas?

- I'll need a whole month to do it and still it wouldn't be that good

I bet it’s been mulling in your brain for weeks already.

Yes and no. Not recently, I work in education because it's a passion I don't do it for money so in all those years my brain has planned a million of projects to do for every type of student so if I need something I just go to my endless virtual memory in my brain and open the file.

I have another huge file about ADHD, of course 😛

I totally get it. The second I get inspired by an idea and it scratches my creative itch, I can create these themed ecosystems, for the lack of a better word, for business models, marketing campaigns, music ideas, organizations of various kinds an sizes. It goes on and on. I love having those lightning bolts of brilliance.

I am actively working on improving what I can my 'signal to noise' ratio so that I can modulate my mental, physical and emotional energy throughout the day to ensure I maximize the number of these sessions I have, all the while not spreading myself too thin and 'hitting the wall' at the end of the day. That wall of awful... It's still there. I'm not sure I agree with the whole ADHD Superpower thing, BUT, my ADHD is actually teaching me how to circumvent the wall of awful and go around it, as water would rocks in a river.

Is that a superpower? Who cares! I'm living a much fuller and happier life and, crucially, stringing that along for days on end and building better, much healthier habits.

Good on you. Just remember to take a little break, hydrate, eat an apple (something with natural sugar and pulp NO JUICE!) to keep you going on an even keel.

Love it. Keep it up. Godspeed,

P.
