So my current weight is hovering around 226/227. I have been trying to get it down to 190 for a really long time. And I am also not ruling out 180. Every now and then I study the physical characteristics/nutrition/exercise habits of famous people, like Ryan Reynolds. He is taller than me and supposedly weighs around 180, so not ruling out that stature. But I currently have kind of a strange weight loss strategy as I don't like the idea of eating strictly healthy foods the entire time. So every ten pounds I lose, I am going to have a little "cheat" day. And on the cheat day, I am going to still keep the calories under 2000. Perhaps 2, many 3 slices of pizza, and then nothing but broccoli for the rest of the day. Today, I hit the complete "under 230" mark, so I had a bowl of oatmeal, with honey and raspberries, and a banana, and a cup of ice cream. I think all of that put together was about 1500 - 1600 calories. And I am filling myself up for the rest of the day with spinach and broccoli. I hope this strategy works because there is an awesome looking pizza place very close to me that I have been dying to try out for a while.

Hi, you had some really thoughtful and constructive replies to your previous post healthunlocked.com/weight-l... but you didn't respond to them. Did you find them useful?
I was thinking the same thing, so just wondering, does everyone get email notifications of replies automatically or do you have to set that “on”?
Hi PandQs, I'm not sure if any of the notification settings are automatic but you can access and change them by clicking on Menu then email preferences xx
Mine must be set to “notify” as I’ve instantly received an email re your reply. But I’ve noticed over time, a number of new members who post but don’t respond to any replies, so I was wondering whether “notify” should be the default option, otherwise they may never return to their original post and see that there have been replies. Xx
I'll ask the question of what is automatic to the other admins as they may know the answer. I agree we do see a lot of know members that post and then don't interact but post again. xx
thanks 🙏
You can opt to receive notifications for any reply to you - either to a Reply or a Post you've written.
On posts like Maintainers, it would be a great idea if hosts tagged the 'regulars, and then the regulars saved the post: then they'd see all the chat and activity during the month, rather than just at the beginning 😊
I have to confess that I initially was a regular member of a weighin forum when it was separated on a daily basis, and I chose a day when I could be sure I had enough time to read and respond to all replies. Even for one day the volume to scroll through became significant by the end of the day. Nowadays I read my daily email and just bob in on anything that I can relate to, it certainly helps to keep my mind focused on the long term aim not to put weight back on. But you’re right, I did enjoy getting to recognise other regulars at that time (but I think they are mostly gone now - TheAwfulToad and HappyMan ) I should get back to choosing a particular day instead of being random!
TheAwfulToad was a great inspiration.
I remember when we'd have as many replies in a day as we have in a week, now. My Sunday team used to slug it out with Mondays and the Wednesday Wobblers. I suppose there are competing attractions, but I think this forum has a lot to offer
There is a disappointing pattern of some members posting but not engaging - not joining the weekly/ monthly posts or responding to others.
For me, the forum is all about interaction, give and take. It would be wonderful if everyone who received a helpful/supportive message offered the same to one other member
Hello BridgeGirl, I did see those comments on those days, but I was slightly wiped out on typing, especially after doing a lot of practice with coding. I am trying to get my career resurrected, and it has just been exhausting lately trying to put the right amount of time and effort into that as well. Also when I read the replies, I thought they were fun and great to read, but didn't feel a huge need to reply to them. If I am "required" to, I will try to put more effort into that. I definitely don't want to come across as any kind of "downer" on here, and an accountability forum like this is exactly what I need. Thank you for your comments.
Everyone likes at least an acknowledgement. Don't you?
We have some very experienced and knowledgeable members and people want to be helpful - both with information and support. If they spend time and thought to give a response, they'd like to know if it was helpful.
"Required to"? Well, as I say it's a two-way thing or it's nothing. If we're not going to respond to each other, then we might as well write our weight or our meal plans on a piece of paper, stick them up in the kitchen and keep it to ourselves. If we're wanting comments, then we need to offer comments in return. At least, that's how I see a forum like this working.

Hello briGuyIndy, wishing you well in your journey, why not aim to be 225 in the first week, I found this encouraged me not to write myself off to soon by aiming too high. You have put a lot of thought into your eating, so you'll know its about your choices. Have a good week ahead.

When it comes to weight loss, having a solid strategy can really make a difference. I've learned that focusing on balanced nutrition and regular exercise is key. Instead of drastic diets, I prefer making small, sustainable changes that I can stick with long-term. I recently discovered betterme.world/articles/str..., which offers helpful resources and plans for weight loss. They focus on creating a healthier lifestyle rather than quick fixes, which I think is a great approach!
