With regard to the sweet tooth... oh I could eat sweet things (and savoury too) all day long but when I decided to lose weight I knew I would have to go cold turkey and cut them out altogether until the addiction, and I do believe its an addiction, had gone. After that, I did try introducing the odd treat but that just lead to me wanting more, so now I will have Greek yogurt with blueberries and nuts (think of a sundae ) a couple of times a week and will make myself a mug cake (just Google them, they are fab) for celebration days. Some people can have one or 2 squares of chocolate and leave the rest for another day! That's just not me.
You need to do a trial and error and see what will work for you. Could you ration yourself each day, a couple of times a week, have a treat day once a week or like me, go cold turkey. If you are full of the lovely fresh food you've cooked up through the day you will also be less likely to want to eat anything else.
I hope my experience helps and gives you something to work on.
We look forward to seeing you joining in xx
Don’t give it up at once and look at foods that have lower natural sugar to start . Have a few active distractions like cleaning car wheels , tidying car , cupboards etc or throw your coat on - get out even to the library to pick up a few books or recipe ideas .
Plan B . If all else fails especially at night when Xmas TV groans food etc - a low cal chocolate drink . Takes ages to drink as it’s red hot but sip it . I feel giving up all can be punishing and might discourage you long term . Plan your food intake. Think if it’s not in my trolley I can’t eat it . Even buy 1 block of decent dark choc and portion it over say - 5 days . I tended not to buy the better chocolate as it was expensive but think about the money you would spend on 5 whole bars . We all need that psychological boost and I feel many give up because the regime is too harsh .All done at once and that makes many so down they blow all their great plans .
Thank you focused 1I will certainly take on board not all at once and not putting chocolates in the basket at the super market makescsense with a piping hot chocolate drink in the evening to make up for lack of chocs seems to make sense and more of one step at a time.
Thank you so much for kick starting me.
Warm regards
