I am so frustrated quit smoking 2 yrs ago and needless to say put on lots of weight.Been trying to get rid of it but it's so stubborn it won't go away. I've been watching what i eat and exercising 3/4 days a week cardio and weights
Oh yeah I'm 64 and on antidepressants
Do i have a chance?
Any advise?

Absolutely you have a chance but ’watching what you eat’ is rather vague. Most people seem to find success by engaging in a proper plan of what they eat or drinnk, based on calories or carb content or somewhere in between. The exercise is great but probably won’t do much to help with weightloss. I can’t comment on the effect of your antidepressants but have never heard that they hinder weightloss -but take a look at the leaflet that comes in the box.Lots of plans online and you can track your food intake on free apps like my fitness pal.
If you join in on here -I’m sure an admin will come along to welcome you -you will get support from other members which is more useful than you might think. Hope that helps.
I do still think its worth making a plan, but protien and salads sounds like you are going in the right direction. Maybe take a look at portion sizes too. You definitely sound like you deserve to be losing so maybe join in daily diary and post daily menus for a few days and you might get some pointers to help you tweak. Yes its lots of women who post on there but we are all very friendly and positive.
Good morning Jamie2018 and welcome to our friendly forum. Firstly very well done on managing to stop smoking, that's a difficult thing to do. You can certainly start to tackle that weight gain now.
You say you watch what you eat, without knowing what you are eating its difficult to comment on but the best way, the way many of our members do it, to lose weight is to buy fresh (tinned and frozen is included in that) and cook from scratch as often as you can. This avoids the extra sugar that most processed and ultra processed foods contain. You also need to decide on a starting point. Will you be counting calories/ following low carb etc? Wherever you start, you need to give it a 4-6 weeks to show whether that is the right plan for you. If you chose calorie counting I personally would suggest joining the NHS 12 week programme, its online in the form of an app. It's where I started and found it gave me a good grounding on portion sizes and lots of meal ideas.

Lots of salads and protein is what i eat mostly trying to stay away from sugar and carbs .i eat a lot of cheese and yogurt beans and meat for protein.The yogurt i eat is plain Greek no sugar

Apart from carbs, refined seed oils (what's called 'vegetable oi' in the supermarkets) can be a reason why you're struggling with weight. Try to avoid those by avoiding margarine and only using a cold pressed oil like olive, coconout, avovado oil or butter for cooking. Unfortunately these seed oils are in most processed food and restaurant food so it's best to avoid those as much as you can.
If you're having problems with over eating the herbal remedy 'berberine' will tone down your appetite.
There's no dietary requirement for carbs at all as your body has a mechanism called gluconeogenesis (new glucose making) from non carb sources, so you can safely leave them all out of your diet. Make sure that you're identifying all sources of carbs accurately as some people often overlook some fruit (like grapes, bananas, some varieties of apples) and some root veg or beans as sources of carbs.
