Hello, I have skulking for a while, weight up and down but always too much! I am using my phone and haven’t really got the hang of using this site.
Anyway, I am four weeks into very low carb, high-ish protein and good fats. It looks as though this will be a slow affair as I lost three pounds then stuck.
Past history is that I get fed up and return to consolation carbs, which are like crack cocaine for me. I have to go Cold Turkey!

Whilst it's a bit harder to navigate on a phone, hopefully using the link below will help you.
On my phone there's a green speech type home bubble at the top left. Clicking on that will take you to all the current posts too. To join in just click on a blue "reply" button and you're away
There are a few groups that I'm sure you'll find helpful, such as the Daily Diary, Weigh In, springers specials for example.
We also have a number of members who follow a low carb plan that you might find particularly supportive.
Finally, we have a Christmas Countdown Challenge that you could join in with - it's week 3 but it's never too late to start.
I would say the best place to find others on a low carb plan is on the Daily Diary, have a look at what the host Hopalong1 has posted about low carb Tuesday (very timely).
Welcome -cold turkey is a great choice for low carb😀. Well done on 3lb loss, even though you sound disappointed its a good start. But if you find very low carb difficult or you give up because you get fed up, perhaps you should be including some planned carbs, maybe at the weekend , just to break the monotony. I’m not suggesting eating a pile of cakes but maybe some buttery toast or a small scone, with cream and a sliced strawberry.
You’re right, I can feel the pull from carbs: I thought I would try making some keto bread to see if that helps keep me on track. Living alone, there is a risk from having my normal delicious whole grain bread in the house, even in the freezer, as it calls to me! Watch this space!
Dear Quilter449 you are living my life 🤣 I’m trying to lose weight regained during lockdown. I come to this site every day to remind myself of what I should be doing but have failed every challenge I joined. Currently have just done over 2 weeks very low carb, absolutely no bread, rice, pasta, wheat or sugar etc and no movement on the scales. Two meals a day (miss out breakfast). But I don’t give up because at least I’ve temporarily got rid of the sugar cravings again. Keep going!
Hello PandaQs, good to hear from another low-carber. It makes sense to me as a way of weight loss. You’ve lost over 3 stone? Wow! Like you, I’m planning meals without wheat or sugar, and usually just two meals a day. I’m not really keen on meat, but I’m eating it because it’s an easy way of getting sufficient protein, and it fills me up. I was waiting for the whoosh of weight loss, but I don’t think it’s coming! Well done for KOKO.
Lost a load but regained and it’s sticking 🤣 KOKO I guess is keep on keeping on? Yes definitely and keep coming on here hopefully to support others as and when I can do 👍
Yes I am still around 😊 Great to see you back. 3lbs is a great start and slow loss is always more sustainable.
When I am actively trying to lose I tend to go for lower carbs rather than low as it suits me better, but also monitoring calories to keep portions down. So I aim for 80 carbs per day and under 1500 calories. That works for me, but we are all different. It means I can include a slice of toast which satisfies my bread cravings 😊
Good luck! Hope to see you on the Weekly Weigh In thread.
Hello walk this way, good to see you. I will be there on the Weekly Weigh In when I can reliably get around this site - it’s a bit hit and miss at present!
I’m finding that keeping carbs down naturally keeps calories down too, and the protein fills me up - even if it’s not what I really want to eat!
