During the day I'm good πŸ‘

Stick to healthy choices and do not snack.

Come 9.30 pm and the Devil 😈 appears

I need help to break my late night snack biscuit cookie cake chocolate fests πŸ™

Maybe I should just go to bed πŸ›Œ 😴 early

My snack attacks are late evening ones FrankyC . Going to bed early may not help because you can always get up again πŸ˜‚

I just had to stop buying crisps, biscuits and chocolate.

That's hard if you have more people in the household, but I only have my Youngest here now, so if I do buy any snacks they are clearly marked as hers. I've reached the point now where I don't think about chocolate, but if I knew there were savoury snacks in the house with no known ownership, I'm afraid I'd be in there like a shot!

Good luck :)

Yep, my hubby is a chocoholic so it's difficult. However I am going to try a different routine in the evening and see if that helps πŸ€žπŸ€

Another option is to look at whether your 'healthy choices' during the day mean you're not eating enough and are just plain hungry by the evening :)

Thank you for the thought but No, I know I'm not hungry, it's more habit and I love sweet stuff. It actually feels like I cannot stop myself. Definitely a learned habit which are hard to break. Working on it though. πŸ€žπŸ€ New routine should help.

Habit, but physiology will also be playing a part. You might find this useful - and I should probably read it again, too!! well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013...

Thank you I will take a look.Currently reading Atomic Habits by James Clear. It's fascinating and already can see why habits are so hard to break.

I can definitely sympathise with this problem. I am a chocaholic and am sure I'm addicted to the stuff. If you find a solution to this problem please share it with me so I can try it. Thanks and good luck and well done for sharing this issue with us here. x

Easter has sent me off a bit . Bought another egg and chocolate. It is amazing how addictive choc is as if I don’t buy I don’t crave but if I have that odd bar then I really want more . Best advice is don’t buy , can’t eat but this is difficult if you don’t live alone

Boy I am with you on this at the moment FrankyC - what I used to do and will restart doing to see if it helps me again is brush my teeth after dinner as I’m so lazy I won’t do it again so stops me.

That's good advice purple_ums_2 and something that a lot of people at my group suggest and works for them.

Good tip. I'm going to try a new nightly routine of getting ready for bed early and did think brushing my teeth would help 😬 so great minds πŸ‘Œ

I too snack in the evening so you're not alone! Going to bed early isn't as stupid as it sounds. I was told once that you often reach for extra calories when we're tired. So we sometimes eat when we're tired rather than when we're hungry. I have started going to bed a little earlier and it does help. A bit!

Thank you, didn't think of that πŸ‘Œ

FrankyC I can relate to your statement so well, so I now have 6 tins in a rucksack which weigh roughly 6lbs (as I had lost 5lbs in March and the lb I've lost since returning to healthunlocked) when I feel how heavy it is to lift, I am hoping this helps me to realise the sacrifice I have made and stops me from over indulging so I have it in the back room where I have the TV as I love to watch tennis and I have the exercise bike as I'm really trying to stay focused. πŸš²πŸ“Ί πŸŽΎπŸ€”πŸŒžπŸ• xxx Good Luck.

Congratulations on your weightless.Yes, I'm doing C25K and like the routine of planning my next run. I'm looking at various yoga and stretching apps I have and going to start planning sessions. So fingers crossed this keeps me focused.

Hi FrankyC,

I snack during the day and don't see it as a problem but have a rule that I won't eat in the evening as I read an article about it interfering with sleep. I used to eat at 11.30 pm due to work and would get cardiac arrhythmia in the night so, I can definitely say it affected mine! I eat things like quorn slices, salad stuff, yoghurt, dark chocolate, fruit, things on ryevitas etc for my snacks. I am no longer hungry after dinner and I wonder if you aren't getting enough food in the day to make your body need it in the evening or, it is a pattern of eating you are in where you need to eat in the evening? You could start to eat things that support your weight loss (not sure what plan you are on) or you could try to eat more in the day so you are full at dinner if you feel that would help more?

I will be honest, I eat chocolate every day myself but, during the day and it is 85% cocoa stuff. I think it helps because it has less sugars that way and it is the chocolate and not the sugar I want. For me, I know I can eat a lot of food and so make sure that food is mainly stuff that supports my weight loss. I was pre diabetic before I started on this journey and am now in the healthy range so for me cutting sugar was a must.

That is something I need to look at. Someone mentioned something similiar to this earlier. So thank you. 😊 I perhaps need to up my eating during the day. My diet is not that bad. Portion size and snacking is my problem.

I too tend to snack at night. I have been snacking on fruit or nuts, sometimes carrots .That all seems good but I have stopped losing weight. So increasing my walking and my gym time. Fingers crossed.🀞

Hi, I'm a recent restarter too. Success in 2020, followed by backsliding since Autumn last year. But one of the things that worked for me was 85% chocolate as my evening treat. I prefer it now to the very sweet confectionery (that's a complete lie, but I keep saying it to myself and hope it will become true).
