Hi everyone, I joined the group a couple days ago and posted this:

healthunlocked.com/weight-l...

Someone helpfully suggested to make a post with the foods I do like in the hopes that maybe someone had some ideas on what I could eat. Before anyone judges me, please read the other post as that gives a bit of background to my eating disorder and the other struggles I am facing atm:

Cheese (recently started liking halloumi so I’m experimenting with halloumi burgers, chips etc so keen to try more of this). Potato (pretty much eat in any form), crackers, bread, jacket potatoes, peas, carrots, green beans, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, chips, crisps, garlic, cereal, roast parsnips, Greek yoghurt with honey

I don’t really like any spice. I know there’s no fruit in there, not much veg, I don’t eat meat (I’m not against people eating meat, I wish I could I just can’t as my stomach can’t tolerate it). I’m ashamed of what I eat, I know it’s all fatty and not good for me. I have been trying for years and years to get over it, I haven’t as of yet. I consider it a win if I try a different brand of crisp or a different kind of cheese. Please don’t judge, I really need help. It’s embarrassing to be ridiculed for having an eating disorder and still being overweight.

I am trying to try other things but I get that worked up about it I often physically pass out before I get anywhere .

Any help is greatly appreciated as I’m at the end of my tether now and I don’t know how much longer I can go on in this mental state

Dear emcollier126,

I'm sad that you've been left to deal with such a huge problem alone and wonder if you could speak to your GP again and ask him to refer you to someone who specialises in eating disorders?

You could also try contacting Beat, who do specialise in eating disorders beateatingdisorders.org.uk/

Your diet consists mainly of carbohydrates, which is more likely to be the cause of your weight gain, rather than the fat content of your diet, although processed foods do contain a lot of processed fats. This may help you identify healthy fats and could be another route to take for weight loss fatismyfriend.co.uk/

I've looked for recipes that contain the healthier elements of the foods you like and hope that you'll be able to try some of them out. You may need to omit the bits that you don't like, or replace them with things that you do. Maybe, given time, you'll be able to introduce new things slowly, so that you can extend your eating repertoire?

I would suggest that, if possible, you reduce the simple carbs, ie, bread, white potatoes, crackers, crisps, cereal and sugar.
