Hi there I am a full time carer for my wife and I have been fighting with weight loss for many years I gave up a job I loved milking cows to become a full time carer for my wife and have probably put on 4 stone after our recent holiday I was helping my wife into the swimming pool and heard someone saying look at them fat people they should not be allowed in the pool that really hurt and after thinking of drowning the little darling I promised when I got home to do something about my weight so when I have my rest bite holiday in October I will be a lot slimmer and happier here I go wish me luck I going to need it

Hi Josiewales and welcome to this fabulous forum. A member of the Admin Team will be along to formally welcome you soon, but i just wanted to say hi, you've come to a fab place for help. Have a look at today's weigh in and daily diary, they'll give you a good feel for this forum.

The more you join in the more you will get out of being here. I've totally changed my eating habits through the friendship, help, support and advice given here and have lost just over 60kg since sept 2020. I regularly pinch meals from others.

I look forward to 'seeing' you around and following your journey xx

Oh that made me laugh 😅 I remember a so called friend told me once that a guy we knew asked her what I had done to myself ! I didn't do anything about it and have spent years putting weight on and off. The best of luck with it all and keep us posted 😀

Hi Josiewales2021 and welcome to this amazing forum. I'm sorry to hear about your wife.

I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.

Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.

Here’s the link to the pinned posts,

Here’s the link for the “Tour” of the forum. If you haven’t already taken it.

I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.

You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.

Good luck I hope to "see " you around.🍀

I’m sorry to read about your experience Josiewales, there seem to be a lot of people in this world that know nothing about compassion and empathy. You clearly met some. On the other hand I’m glad that instead of making you bitter it has encouraged you to change for the better. It should be good both for you and your wife. See you around🙋🏻‍♀️

It was actually what I thought people thought of me that kicked me into action . My family were worried especially as when I started I was 58 and this was time to prepare for a healthy retirement- maybe 10 years down the line . Aged 61 I maintain at realistic weight for me . Do it for your own health . I saved money when I didn’t buy at least £80’per month of junk . Put that alone in a pot for your holidays . Fantastic being a carer for your wife . It takes a lot of patience and determination but don’t neglect yourself. Bet your wife has her own private thoughts and she will be proud of you . It may stop her worries and maybe slight guilt . I know my Dad never thought about himself as Mum was long term mentally ill. His quality of life could have been much better . You have decided and it must be hard as food is comfort and reward . Now those elements will

be dealt with another way. Can you go out and exercise with your wife ? Even if mobility is an issue my friend managed to get her husband an electric wheelchair as they used to be trapped in the house . She walked alongside this and it helped her shed over a stone with ease .

Mary has a scooter and we can get out when it's sunny and warm

Welcome I’m also new here. I’m really sorry to hear of your experience and I pity the person who said this they are very ignorant. Well done for caring for your wife that takes a lot of patience love and courage and not everyone can care for their loved ones because it’s so difficult or they think it’s someone else’s job ( I was a district nurse and saw a lot of that) you have made the first step toward helping yourself which in turn will help your wife. Wishing you all the very best on your weight loss journey
