Hi Ccs16 welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.
Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.
I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.
You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.
Weight loss (and breaking food addictions) is not difficult. It only appears to be difficult because there is so much faulty information about it, so most people end up doing it wrong. And they keep on doing it wrong, over and over again.
There are loads of people here who have done it, including me. The trick boils down to eating proper food. If you do that, your appetite starts working properly again and your body discards fat that it no longer needs.
As I said though, the advise about what constitutes "proper food" is appalling. If you were to take the official advice and then eat the exact opposite, you wouldn't be far off.
Have a look at dietdoctor.com (all the information there is free, and HU has no affiliation with it - I just happen to think it's a good website).
It's so easy you'll say "Is that it? There must be more to it than that".
And the answer is: yes, it really is that easy. Follow the instructions to the letter and it will work (don't try to "improve" it by reducing the fat content or counting calories).
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people making a lot of money out of convincing overweight people that it's really, really difficult. When their methods don't work, and the customer fails, they can blame the customer and sell the product all over again. It's genius.
Just out of interest TheAwfulToad I went on the website and put in my preferences - they said they can't accommodate me! I don't do keto or low carbs as it isn't for me. Athough I appreciate that it works well for you, it definitely isn't for everyone.
Good luck Ccs16 , it definitely takes time to get on track. I find the daily diary really helpful, hopefully see you there.
I would put that slightly differently: it won't be suitable for people who have made life choices that preclude (say) eating animal products, but the number of people who would not thrive on a diet of minimally-processed veg, meat, eggs and dairy is considerably smaller (about two orders of magnitude smaller, I suspect) as the number of people who would fail to thrive on a very-high-carbohydrate, low-fat, calorie-restricted diet.
In the absence of any other information, I'm 95% confident it'll be suitable for the OP, and if it turns out that it isn't... Well, no harm done in trying.
I'm not criticising TheAwfulToad I just found it interesting. I am aware of some vegan keto books and recipes. In fairness, I do try and be mindful of those super carby foods!
I do think the best non surgical weight product is to eat differently. Maybe it’s not about saying “no” to food, but more about not having foods around you that are less nutritious - so you don’t have to buy cakes, crisps, sweets and biscuits, and then learning about the best ways to lose weight healthily, and make good choices. If you feel full and eat enough at meal times, it is much easier to not need or want snacks. If you can buy and cook food yourself, you will be able to choose the ingredients you enjoy.
Doing all this is about practice and learning, so join in everything and everywhere so you can find the best ways of eating well.
