Hi, I am new to this chat, I started the nhs plan 3weeks ago. I thought I had done it wrong as I was surprised to see how many calories I could eat each day but stayed quite low came to weighing myself and it seemed I didn’t lose anything. Since then I been sticking to the daily calories and have seen a small loss these past 2 weeks. My weigh in is on a Monday.

Hello Orange-45. I think my problem was eating healthy but not eating enough so my body was holding onto everything I gave it. The allowance on the 12 week plan is very generous and makes you think about what you are eating. I've just got my hubby on it, he puts out what he would like to eat then he works out the calories. He has been quite shocked when he has seen how high it is. He is reluctantly learning to adjust it. Congratulations on losing, even a small lose is positive
Hi, fedupoffeelingtired,
Yes it all makes sense and just looking close at what we eat. I guess I have been conscious of what I have eaten in the past and with the little exercise I was doing walking to work kept my weight steady but since last September I was promoted and moved office so reduced my walk as I needed to catch the train. I was shocked when I went on the scales and had put half a stone on which then led me to join the nhs 12 week plan. I also do the 10 minutes walking on the spot at home as I have been working from home since 2nd week in January. How have you been doing being on this?
Hello and welcome, Orange45
If you've taken your calorie range from the NHS BMI calculator, you'll lose within that range so no need to go lower. It makes sense to me to eat as much as you can, consistent with losing weight, rather than aiming to be over-restrictive. Of course, what you eat is the most important thing: the idea that 'a calorie is a calorie' is very misleading.
