Hello, I do low carb so as long as I don't have the rice, they're fine on my plan. Would you like to join us on the weigh in? Here's the link, I hope to see you there :-) x

Hi Hidden and welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.

Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.

Here’s the link to the pinned posts, healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Here’s the link for the “Tour” of the forum. If you haven’t already taken it.

I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.

You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.

Good luck I hope to "see " you around. Xx

There's nothing particularly fattening about curries, it's more about what you have with them. The worst thing is naan bread, and the next worst is white rice. I don't have naan bread, and restrict myself to 50 g (dry weight) of brown rice. I make my own and leave sugar out of the recipe. I have Indian style once a week and Thai style two or three times a week and my bmi is 21. I cook with ghee, coconut oil or olive oil (grain oils are inflammatory and unhealthy).

I agree with others that curry isn't that fattening. I use coconut oil which gives a really lovely flavour, then lot's of veg and usually chicken. Sometimes I add red lentils and yoghurt. Cauliflower rice is my go to accompaniment, and I don't have anything else with it.

Are you talking about restaurant curries or home made? are you calorie counting, low GI, LCHF? Chicken Tikka with a vegetable side dish probably matches most types of diet.

I must learn how to make chicken tikka!!

There’s a company based in Leicestershire called Spicentice and they have a website. The products are recommended by the Slimming Clubs. Easy to use complete with the Spice mix and recipe card. I have a standing order each month and I’ve lost over 2 Stone this year but still enjoying my Indian food. The Chicken Tikka is first class as is many of their curry mix sachets. Check it out and I don’t think you will be disappointed. So authentic and it’s definitely Take Away standard
