Hi and welcome, shazzyp62 :)

Yours is a cry that many of us can identify with and the trick is to find a way of eating that you'll be able to sustain for the rest of your life. Have a look at these and see if they could help healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best :)

I find boredom makes me eat extra.

I would suggest taking your food plans a day and a half. So you have something to look forward to.

We all need to eat so blaming yourself is unnecessary. Think I need 3 meals a day at the appropriate time.

Set your mealtimes. And if you didn’t like your lunch think what different lunch you can eat the next day.

Eat food you like but don’t punish yourself. It can be a form of self harm when eating. Feeling like other people don’t care so why should you.

Answer your hunger but find alternatives to snacking. Immediately when you think of food, drink water or make a cup of tea. The distraction and liquid curbs the thought of food if you get in the habit but it won’t work alone.

You then need to add walking in between food or chores between mealtimes. Use this but be aware the aim is not to stop eating just changing eating habits.

Think of smoking it takes at least five times plus to actually succeed so take it slow and find things to do. If you’re eating 3 times a day you’re not over eating so take each bit of your diet in stages.

Remember with all addictions it’s up to you to be positive.

Hi, unless you've been there ( and I'm guessing you have) it's impossible to understand the impact this "addiction" has on your life and the lives of the people you love.

Are you trying to lose weight at the moment? I think it's even harder in the present situation, what do you think?

I’m always trying to lose weight. I’ve always felt fat. It’s a feeling as well as an eating disorder or mental illness.

There’s an emerging school of thought that believes that binge eating is physical as well as emotional. We are actually addicted to sugar and refined carbohydrates. The hormone Grehlin that makes us feel hungry also has a significant role in our need for comfort - so it’s not just in our heads that eating cheers us up. The solution - assuming this new thinking is right - is to switch to a low carb diet. Diet Doctor and CarbDodging.com explain more. A zero sugar and low carb diet gets our blood sugars & hunger hormones back i proportion so we eat the right amount of fuel for our bodies not food to address our sadness. I’ve done a fair amount of excess eating in my time so know a little bit about this you feel. 10 doughnuts anyone? 20 chocolate crispie cakes? A whole loaf of toast and butter? Etc.
