Welcome dhrs :)

I would suggest that you start by reading our Welcome Newbie pack,

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

and also our Security/ privacy information,

Then I think you need to think carefully about what is going to be sustainable for you. Don't think diet, think healthy eating for life. Diet's don't work, you can follow a diet and loose weight and once you stop, it will all come back and possible more over time.

If you want to count calories take a look at the NHS 12 week plan or if you don't want to count, how about taking a look at the Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) way of eating.

The choice has to be yours, but what ever you choose, please make sure you ditch diet and low calorie foods, which contain a higher amount of sugar to make them palatable and start incorporating some healthy fats into your diet.

Take a look at the Daily Diary for some ideas of meals and join in and post your own plans, you will get lots of support there and as Lytham has suggested, join a daily weigh in group. The weigh ins are open from 9pm the evening before until 9pm on the day, this is to allow our overseas members to join in as well.

We have found that participation in the forum is key to weight loss, we have lots of activities for you to join in with, there is a list of them here, healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Please feel free to come and ask any questions you have, none are too silly :)

Wishing you good luck on your weight loss journey :)

Well you've made a start by coming on here. After that the 12 week NHS plan a good way to start it introduces you to calorie counting and exercise. If counting calories make sure you work out your allowance on BMI calculator and eat to top end of it. Don't cut down drastically as this just sends you into starvation mode and you store fat instead. Good luck and why not join us Wednesday wobble warriors, weigh in starts at 9 tonight to 9 tomorrow night

Hi, dhrs , welcome.

Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Eating All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

A lot of people also find that by following the 12 week plan and including foods from all food groups in mainly home cooked simple meals they easily lose weight. Good luck!
