It's half term!! Which makes it so much tougher to stick to my exercise routines! Last week the kids were ill with a cough and sore throat and mild fever. Then weekend I was looking after my mum's dogs! Who are not the best trained. One always gets car sick. And they both like to 'mark territory' in the house! And my seven year old is a little allergic but not as bad as when she was younger. So weekend was lots of dog walking instead of my usual exercise of running or cycling.
Monday I have the dreaded cough/sore throat illness! But still had to go to work as I already used time off for the kids so can't have more time off for myself! I caved on my diet and got a chippy for us all for dinner.
Tuesday I got to take both kids and dogs to my mum's! Yay! No more dogs! But the extra commute and obligatory chit chat also cut into my usual exercise time! Then had to spend two hours changing the bed sheets, sweeping, mopping and washing!! Hopefully that counts as calories burned!
Managed a session on my treadmill and stuck to my diet today!
But the weeks not half way through yet! Am supposed to go swimming tomorrow.
Part of me was thinking of just quitting whilst it's half term! But I like the food I eat so other than the chippy I don't really want to change my eating plan. Exercise might be a bit less but as long as I do what I can right?
Any tips on getting rid of a tickly cough as fast as possible??
God knows if the scales are going to be good or bad on my weigh day Friday!!! Usually I jump on the scales every day but I am trying hard not to as a 'bad' result might make me definitely want to give up this week!

I am sure you have been exercising without realising, looking after poorly children, clearing up after and walking the dogs and extra housework. Don't beat yourself up about one week that is out of your normal routine. The good thing is you know what works for you, weight loss wise, and that you get back to it as soon as you can. Life happens and I'm sure the weigh in on Friday won't be as bad as you think. Hope you get well soon 😊
Well done on sticking to plan, more or less, during a challenging week. 👏. This is a life long journey and learning to deal with holidays, illness and weekends away is a skill. The best advice is to enjoy your week with your family, (I know it’s hard of everyone’s ill☹️) but think twice before you eat anything.
For a sore throat, fresh pineapple is good. And only gentle exercise! And housework definitely counts 😊
Ooh pineapple is one of the few fruits I actually like! 😄 And yes ... I think even though this week is not going to go perfectly to plan I feel different. If I was on slimfast or something - which I've tried in the past - I would definitely have thrown in the towel and then not looked forward to beginning it again. Proof that the system I am doing now feels natural enough that it's maintainable! Obviously as I am trying to reach my goal I do work harder than if I was just maintaining. So worse thing that should happen this week is I might just stay the same and then can get back into full swing next week!
