Good morning height and welcome to the weight loss forum.

I suggest you use the Daily Diary for meal ideas and for logging your own plans: here's a link to today's healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

You can also find lots of recipes in Topics.

To help you find your way around, we’ve put all the information you’ll need in a Newbie Welcome pack and here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Please take time to read it so you'll know what the forum has to offer.

We also ask that you read this important information about internet privacy and security healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I see you have not locked your post. This means that it, and any replies, can be shared around the Internet by Twitter, Facebook etc (see the logos below your post); for this reason, some members are unwilling to reply to unlocked posts.

Wishing you all the best and hoping to see you around.

By the way, it would be interesting to know how you found your way to this forum :)

Hi, I am also a veggie and living proof that we are not the stick thin stereotypes that you often see.

I think the answer for us is lots and lots of veggies to bulk out meals and prevent us from feeling hungry. Trawl the internet for recipes and have a go at the ones you fancy. I have lots of new ideas from doing this and look forward to trying them.

Hi Height

Im also veggie and overweight

I replaced meat for 30 years with lots of starchy carbs and cheese so even though im a veggie, the diet wasnt great!

I have ditched the crash diets and have decided that eating healthier in general and moving more is the key and sustainable for the long term goals of losing weight, keeping it off and getting fitter as a result!

I plan my meals for the week ahead on a Friday and factor in my snacks too! Ive taken to drinking fruit teas to help with my water intake, which in turn helps you not snack as much as quite often its dehydration rather than hunger!

I try to make swaps where possible - eg

When having noodles, rather than using pasta noodles i have boodles - which is spiralised butternut squash, also spiralise courgette and use that instead of spagetti, if i do want pasta, ill eat wholewheat. For bread i limit fresh bakery bread to a weekend and in the week tend to use wholemeal wraps. I read labels on food as sometimes the “lighter” version is healthier but not always - they tend to have more sugars in so be aware of that esp around yogurts !

As bridgegirl said, the daily diary can be very helpful as you put your intentions up for the day ahead and people may make suggestions on how to add more protein or lower the carbs if thats your aim.

I use My fitness Pal which is an app that tracks my calories and shows the % of protien fats and carbs

Good luck & hope to see you in the daily diary xx
