The scales don't tell you everything!! ........

I weigh myself every 2 weeks, was shocked to find I've gained 4lbs ...... catastrophy, disaster, what had gone wrong? I thought there must be malfunction with the scales!! gaining 4lbs can't be true ........ I've trained hard, eat well, no alcohol ........... I was looking for the scales to reflect and reward me for hard work and dedication. Not so, I've gained 4lbs, my weight is going in the wrong direction!!

Thankfully my scales gave me a full me a body analysis ....... I have reduced my body fat from 27.9% to 26.1%, muscle mass improved, hydration improved and metabolic age reduced, these are all very good indicators of health!! So, I've lost fat and gained muscle ........ this explains gaining 4lbs in weight, I will take this result and feel very pleased with my progress.

So the moral of the story is ........ the scales don't tell you everything, (unless you have a body analysis), they have rarely been my friend as they mislead me more often than not, I have come to learn they can't be trusted so I don't trust them.

If you have ever gained weight maybe there's an explanation similar to mine rather than a 'what happen?' or a guilty feeling or even worse giving up as a failure.

My plan is to 'keep doing the right things and the results will follow', I don't look to my weight on the scales as THE ONLY result.

Good luck with your journey

So true ! A good reminder to remember the non scale victories as they come along . Whilst I am pleased to see a steady weight reduction I am as pleased when I can get back into clothes that no longer fitted or more easily accomplish physical tasks .Wins come in many formats !

Well done for reducing your body fat and achieving all the other good things. You are so right. It has taken me a long time to adjust my mindset to prevent blowouts because I felt a failure due to a number on some scales.

I know this time I will get to a healthy weight as my attitude has changed and like you, scales are not the only indicators on our journey. 💪👍👍

Very true. Since getting to my goal weight I have been trying to not obsess over the scales, especially because I have started working out, so like you, a gain in weight could be muscle (who am I kidding? It is definitely from all that cake on Saturday, haha).

I now try and go by how my clothes feel.

Wow, your scales sound very impressive. And that's a really good lesson to take away.
