So tonight’s been one of them nights where you get in late and think it’s too late to cook now. So myself and mum decided to call for a takeaway only to find out they don’t know how many calories are in the food. And I refused to have it without knowing the calories so I’m just having a banana for dinner now.

Not ideal
This is when I would have a spinach salad or part of a can of pinto beans with cheese.
Because I work a late shift and always come home too late to want to eat a 'proper' meal I eat porridge and a banana virtually every (working) night. Strangely I never seem to get bored of it.
Recently I have been reducing my carbs and I have started to think about what I could have late at night instead, maybe scrambled eggs or an omelette, I haven't tried that yet though. In fact I have just polished off my porridge at midnight when I sat down at the computer
Good for you for resisting a take away though
Maybe in future you could have some almonds or other kinds of nuts, high protein yogurt or some egg dish to get filling protein in?
If you're off this weekend, how about doing some batch cooking for the week so you have your own 'takeaways' in the freezer and know exactly what's in them?
I work late two nights a week and make sure I have a healthy ready meal in the fridge for those nights or make myself eggs on toast or beans on toast filling and quick. Planning is the key or the impulse fairy wins😀
One take away won't ruin your hard work! Even if it means your weight might stay the same/increase ever so slightly the following day, you can bring that down again so that you will still have an overall lose in the week and won't even notice!
Even if you don't know the exact amount of calories, you can still choose wisely or take a smaller portion. I had a sushi take away last night. If I was having an Indian take away I would have choosen grilled tandoori chicken and stayed away from anything with a lot of sauce - or put a very little amount of someone else's order with sauce of my plate but not had one to myself. If Chinese I choose a dish with a lot of veggies. If it's fish and chips I take the batter off the fish and have a handful of chips. there are still ways to enjoy a take away, even when watching your weight
Can't believe no-one has already said it but well done for choosing NOT to have take away because you didn't know the calories!! When you are tired and hungry it is easy to make poor choices but you didn't so huge well done to you!!
The best kitchen tool ever is my slow cooker. Throw everything in there in the morning and come home to wonderful smells and tasty food after a hard day at work. Also a great way to batch cook too. Good luck with your journey x

I find that eating nothing after 14:00 helps! Takeaways are difficult... I went to one with my son the other week... and they had spring rolls, sausages, and chicken without batter... you might be able to get away without batter or much gluten. Kebab without bread?
I don't know of any 24-hour salad bars!
