Post holiday weigh in...

Just got back from two weeks in France where I ate pastries every morning, cheese, bread & patisserie every day in large amounts.

Previous to the holiday I’d lost 10lb in 6 weeks so was worried I’d put it all back on. Well 36 hours after getting home and I’m only a pound up. So I’m overjoyed, to say the least.

I really did eat a lot so I think it must be that I lost it slowly so it doesn’t go back on as quickly??

Anyone else found this? Or maybe my idea of “a lot” has changed....

Happy me 👍❤️

Good news, rickswife, but be careful, it can sometimes take a week for dietary indiscretions to show on the scales :)

Why not join the Sunday slimmers on today's weigh-in, for extra support and encouragement? :)

Hi, and thanks. Yes that’s true I’ve seen that before but usually when I get back from holiday it’s at least 5 or maybe 7-8 straightaway...

It's an even better result then :)

I'm off to France on Thursday this week, but I am hoping I won't go mad!

As moreless says, it sometimes shows up when you get back - for me personally, I often put weight on after I get back because I find it very hard to go back to sensible eating patterns, it takes me a while to get back in the groove. Hoping your 10lb stays off, rickswife !

Getting back to it is my downfall usually - it can take me 6 weeks!

One alternative is that you have become so mindful of what you eat that you have unconsciously controlled what you’ve eaten on holiday more than you think. I’ve just returned from two weeks in Texas where I’ve had to eat out for all three meals a day. I haven’t overly worried about food because it’s mostly been out of my control, but there’s been little to no damage done so I’m guessing I naturally controlled my diet more than I thought I did! Perhaps you did the same?

This gives me hope- I am going to the states for 2 weeks next week and worried about going mad!

Good luck, try sharing orders 😩👍

I think one of my friends will share with me! Otherwise I thought about ordering 2 starters and having one of them as my main!

The states is tough. Really tough. I holiday there a lot and can gain 10lbs in two weeks. I find sharing orders is the only way, although it depends where in states you go. NYC & West Coast are easier as people are more weight conscious in those areas but my multiple Orlando trips and ones to Tennessee and Texas were a disaster...similarly Canada. Enjoy your holiday and do let us know how you get on!

Gosh I hope I don't gain 10 lbs - that will nearly put me back to square one! I think I am much better in choosing healthier meals now and if I stick to low carb I should be okay (I can't digest carbs anyway and I am sure my fellow travellers won't want to put up with the side effects!). I'll feedback afterwards!

I know right?! I feel like I have a plan though and have got some great tips from people here!

Top tip from me - do your usual plan right up to the day you travel and start it the very first day back xxx

Thank you! I have fast days so am going to plan a fast day for the day after I get back!

Yes I thought that. Don’t get me wrong I indulged but I think I was mindful to some degree...

I think also what’s easier about the nhs programme is that the calorie allowance is quite high so it’s easier to get back to it. I started on my travel day back and 6 hours driving with lots of stops at services was manageable. Whereas I would normally try to go lower on day one and really struggle.

You’d be surprised what just a little restraint might do so enjoy your trip but don’t have it just for the sake of it? (Which I normally do)

Good luck all

👍
