Did you ever pass a store window and look at yourself, and think-"That window MUST be distorted because that CANNOT BE MY BODY"??!!😨😨 But then you pass several and get the same image staring back at you. How do I not KNOW this is what I really look like? Denial? That happened today and it it put me in the worst mood EVER. STILL in that horrible mood.

Hi Downandout223,I think Like you when I see my own reflection,and you are not alone.It affects a lot of people of all genders and ages.I should wear my glasses more often,but it helps to get a 'blurry' vision.Several ways Im coming to lessen the upset is to believe beauty is skin deep, we really are all unique,to embrace our differences by admiring them,not rejecting ourselves our genuine self.😊☕

Changing room mirrors does this to me, so I avoid at all costs, buy clothes and try them on at home using my mirror and take back if necessary lol.

Please be aware that your weight does not define who you are - Ary is right, we are all unique - learn to love you for who you are, as those around you do :)

Don’t get disheartened just think how you will feel when the same thing happens but you are noticing how much trimmer you look. It will happen just keep believing in what you are doing.

Walking past parked cars was the one that always got me - you glance down and see yourself in profile before having a chance to suck the stomach in. This was what made me finally realise I had to take action. The mirror at home only ever shows a prepared mentally edited version.

Like the others have already mentioned, you are not defined by the image in that window nor by the number on the scales, the real person is the thinking, caring person within.

You will most likely feel better when you know you are making positive healthy choices, so maybe think about making a positive step and joining today's weigh-in? Take ownership of your journey and as Active_43 pointed out in today's Daily Diary, 'A goal without a plan is just a wish' :)

I do feel like that, I don't go out much because of anxiety but whenever I do, I end up very upset with. But then again, I remember that when I was slim, I also didn't like my reflection in mirror and windows and always thought I was fat even though I really wasn't so maybe it's not the windows that are distorted but our brains and opinion of ourselves ;-) just something to think about...

I haven't had a chance to read all of the responses yet, but also, when you are only 5'0 tall, it doesn't help matters. Tall.people.can get away with so much more than short people.can. My opinion only.

Yep - as a little shortie, I can so relate to that! Every extra pound seems to be emphasised when you're short and it didn't help at all to find out that short people find it harder to lose weight!!! No Fair!!!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I lose a few pounds and expect to look totally different, with a much flatter stomach and am so disappointed at the reflection in the mirror. It just doesn't work that way unfortunately. However, all is not lost and if you keep at it - making small changes in your diet and increasing the exercise can make a big difference and one day you will catch that reflection of you and think 'Hmm, not bad!' My son insisted on downloading a fitness app on my phone - it has been a real boon to me and keeps me on track both calorie and exercise wise. I am losing 1 or 2 lbs a week regularly now. And there is slightly less of a reflection looking back at me.

Castiggy-honestly, I have never found it harder to lose weight than taller people.I can lose weight quickly if I put my mind to it. My problem-I eat too many carbs and sweets. I go on a diet, lose a few, and somehow sabotage the weight loss and keep.gaining and losing. I still.cant figure out WHY I keep.doing that. I am TIRED of being fat in the summer, especially. Can't even REMEMBER the last time I wore a bathing suit. I have FINALLY reached 142 pounds today. I haven't seen that number in many years. I think once I get below 140, I''ll.feel better. Well, a LITTLE better! I remain in a horrible mood today. 😡😬
