Hi Steve,
Hope you're feeling ok after getting those results - and I hope you're able to manage the pain. Thanks for letting us know the results, and I hope that you are coping.
Good to see you again - and I'd like to wish you the best for this week ahead.
Zest
thanks hun
the pain is getting me down now after having it for around a year but life goes on so they say
That is a long time to be in pain, Steve, I really sympathise with you. I know they have suggested that you lose 6 stones - and then they'll be able to put you forward for the operation - so I'd like to wish you success with losing that, it may feel like a big task, but I feel sure you could do it - slowly and surely - Onwards and Downwards, as we often say - hopefully you will feel supported here in the forum, and we can look forward to seeing more of your lovely photos of your meals - I've missed seeing those lately!
Hi Shogg sorry to hear you need a new hip but every 1lb you loose will put less strain on it, my hip pain has eased massively since loosing some weight but I can understand yours is probably more than just arthritis.
Do you like swimming? Just a thought maybe if you do the doctor can give you a referral so you can go at a designated time and cheaper as well not a load bearing exercise and might ease the pain a little.
Hope you manage to stay on track and get some pin relief there's nothing worse for making you feel down. Pop on here for a chat every now and again we are all here to help.๐
You can do it. I have lost 16lbs so far with diet alone. Could have been it more with exercise but I'll take it. Good luck!!
Oh no shogg !
But I guess there's no point in giving you a nice new hip, if the surgery is likely to be compromised by the excess weight?
I hope that you can get some good pain relief via your GP, and you've got a great incentive to start losing the weight now....
The good news is (as you may have seen from some of my past posts) that weight loss is entirely possible without an ounce of exercise! I managed to lose 4.5 stone - it took 2.5 years, but the losses were small and regular... and of course there were a few "blips" along the way....

My hips are also causing me a problem, but I'll never have a hip joint replacement, as I don't have any hip joints!

The consultant was amazed I was able to walk at all, let alone have the range of movement I have and that I've been doing it since I was 4 years old (fifty years!)
Stay strong, we are here to support you to do this
