Yesterday I'd cooked a home made lasagne, salad and reduced fat garlic bread for a friend which we hadn't seen for a some time and we were sitting at the table gazing out of the window when he squealed with delight, "just look at that blackbird". Just outside our kitchen window sits a blueberry bush which I feed and nurture all year with the hope of a good crop. That bird perched just outside of my kitchen window, looked me straight in the eye and one by one he pinched every ripe blueberry on the bush, leaving exactly six under-ripe little berries which he obviously hoped to return for in a day or two. I've just been out and eaten them myself - made me shudder they were so sour, but it was a matter of principle! My hubby's still chuckling to himself x

Blackbirds and Blueberries
LOL, kalahuchi!! I'm with you all the way!! We lose our strawberries too, which I had blamed on the birds, until I saw our dog eating them!!
Our Westie passed away a few years ago now and he always had a particular passion for garden peas. We rarely managed to eat any ourselves because he would always tunnel in no matter what protection we put over them and every year we used to watch him reach up as high as he could to the lower branches of our plum tree and strip off the plums. Thankfully he never learned how to climb the tree so we didn't mind sharing. Our cats are too old now to worry the birds, which is a blessing, but if they could just scare off that blackbird ...... x
Love it! Birds do the same to my blueberries, in fact my husband thinks that is why i grow them!
