Well Hello one and all. Thought I would try out this app in the hope it will keep me on track and motivated.
Doing ok up to now. Been on my diet for around 5 weeks and to be truthful I have not (purposely) weighed myself.
I knew roughly that I had notched up at least 3 stone since having operations on both my feet. This led to six months of total inactivity and feeling very down & I guess food was my comfort. It just got out of control and the vicious circle began!
Last summer I weighed in at 12 stone and felt & looked like a beached whale π³ At 5'3", Nothing fitted and I was scouring the charity shops for size 16/18
I'm now feeling like it's a case of 'now or never' I need to reverse this slippery slope and 'Get a grip'
So I have blown away the cobwebs from my bike for cycling along the promenade & brought myself a rucksack for some nice walks in the sunshine. My theory is to stick to my diet and up the excercise for 4 months and then have the courage for a weigh in!
I know I'm loosing weight as I look and feel so much better already and this is what is spurring me on. I think if the scales didn't show much of a loss I would be disappointed and may waver. So I guess whichever way we achieve our goal (mine is to fit back into my size 12 clothes) then if it works it's great. I will be excited to have the weigh in at the end of August but for me it's all about getting my wardrobe back and feeling better in the way I look.
Hopfully I can then post the before and after pics! Wish me luck....I'm on a mission πππ
From me it's a 'Best of Luck' to you all!

Hi there good luck with this, although I must admit you may have a problem with losing weight if you do not actually weigh yourself although this is your choice. When I first joined I had a problem and wasn't losing any weight because I wasn't eating enough and then I was informed of this. To find out the correct amount of calories you should be having to lose weight you should go to the NHS bmi calculator and with this you have to put in a few details like your sex, age, height, weight and rough amount of exercise and I can't remember if there is anything else. After putting in these details it gives you two amounts you can eat between to be able to lose weight. If you eat between these amounts you will be able to lose weight. If you eat below this amount your body thinks you are starving it so it turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes means you put weight on. Please don't make this same mistake as I did. Good luck with your journey.
Many thanks and I will bear all your comments in mind.
I have probably spent more than half of my age (63 in August) on some diet or other and know that the ups and downs are all due to what I consume (in vast amounts Ha!) I will get those scales out soon but I just want to kick start the whole process before letting the scales rule my life. I'm now on week 6 and have lost 2" from my waist and hips. Also dropped a dress size so I'm happy the way things are going. Im on a low carb low sugar diet that seems to work for me. I'm in a positive frame of mind which helps and trying to stay active is a plus.
The support on here is amazing and it's great to read everyone's stories and reasons for wanting to loose the extra pounds/stones. Good luck to each and every one of them!
