Grief is a very difficult thing, be kind to yourself 😕 But you also deserve to feel fit and well, fad diets are not healthy or sustainable, your body deserves good nutritious food 😊 Look up the NHS 12 week plan, and look after yourself and your body. Good luck!
I am sorry about your mum. I know how you feel. I had been doing well losing weight then when my mum became unwell and passed away shortly afterwards. I put it all back on again. I still miss her terribly.
I have recently started again and though it is slow going this community helps me realise weight loss is a journey not a sprint or even marathon.
There is a Monday morning weigh in for those who want to do it. I recommend it as everyone is very supportive and full of ideas to try out. I am not a techie so dare not try and link anything here. Perhaps someone else will. I can see a pinned post on the right that is called "welcome newbies" which is a good place to look. And I see you have had the 12 week plan recommended. I recommend it too. It is a good way of getting started.
Welcome and good luck.
Don't be so hard on yourself as you are still grieving and will do for a while yet. Just set yourself little goals and don't pick high targets to lose as you'll feel worse if you don't reach them.
Just set yourself a little goal of losing say 1lb a week to start with. And just watch what you eat and weigh yourself just once a week. If you weigh everyday you're going to see yourself fluctuate throughout the week and it will put you off. So weigh yourself say every Monday morning and see what that brings.
We all know what we should be eating and what we should be cutting out but again, you can allow yourself a treat now and again too.
I hope this helps you and good luck with it too. But don't beat yourself up ok, your going through the hardest time at the moment, but it will get better.
Lots of hugs
Xxx
Perhaps you were looking after Mam too? I think their going really hits even more when you have been main support. But you feel ready for looking after yourself now and that is great. Think of setting yourself up a lucky dip bag of non eating treats, so that next time you need a little comfort, you can have a no kcal treat instead of heading for the sweeties and biscuits. Some ideas: give yourself a pedicure, a manicure, a face mask, a luxurious bath, a new magazine, a trip with a friend to the pictures, a night in watching your favourite film. I am sure you will think of loads of options yourself. Good luck with planning your menus and getting stuck into a healthy way of eating.
