I too was surprised at my calorie target of 1300-1400 but I have lost weight! And it's so much easier as I'm not hungry (I'm not very tall) having enough to eat is key 😊
So I would say to lose weight you need to eat 500 calories less than your BMR so maybe start at 1400-1700 and see how you get on
Myfitnesspal will work it out for you if you use it 😊
Good luck!
Actually it's perfect. It depends more on what you eat and even more important when you eat it. The lowest any of my clients go is 1800 kcal.. And they lose about 1% a week. If you go to low your body will lower its metabolism

Hi Zoeolcay,
I would always follow the personalised BMI calorie range, as it takes into account various factors pertinent to you - i.e. your height, weight, activity levels etc. If you don't eat sufficient calories you do run the risk of reducing your metabolism, and so I'd recommend eating within the advocated range - i.e. personalised via BMI calculator on NHS Choices website.
Wishing you a great week ahead.
