I thought I'd introduce myself and also the extra human I'm carrying around with me. He weighs 9 stone and he's been on my back, steadily growing for my entire life.
I'm 5ft 5 and I started my journey weighing in at 19st and 1lb.
My ideal weight is 10st.
Recently a girl I knew had weight loss surgery on the NHS... she was a stone lighter than me when she started. When I realised that it was the lowest moment of my whole life, and when you've been the size of a moose since you were 6 years old there's a lot of low moments to choose from for that particular title.
I don't want weight loss surgery.
I want to lose weight.
So I did it once, I lost 3 stone with weight watchers in 2012 and I gained it all back plus 4 stone in 3 years. How did I gain 7 stone in 3 years???
Office job + food addiction +secret eating +living with also food addicted OH + barely moving + laziness + generic excuses +denial = 7 stone quicker than you might think.
Anyway, I'm here now.
So I've been calorie tracking my intake with MyFitnessPal for 3 weeks and so far I've lost 10lbs.
I started doing C25K by running on the country track behind my house (still on week 1), but because of my weight I ended up with shin splints. Instead of writing myself off, I've now (today) joined a gym and will be completing the program on a treadmill until my legs are stronger.
This is the plan:
Calorie controlled low sugar, low fat diet - tracking all food to make sure I make myself accountable for my intake. This was the thing that helped most on weight watchers.
7 Days a week of exercise (3 days Gym c25k, 1 day gym resistance training, 3 days dog walking on rest days)
Goal:
Weight loss of 2lbs per week until I've dropped all 128 of the pounds I need to lose.
Motivation?
I'm 9 stone overweight at 24 years old, I want children, a family and a life where I'm not thinking about my weight every minute of the day. I want to live past 50 and I don't want to have this extra person on my back any more, I'm done.
So that's me really...
I can do this, you just watch me.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for sharing your post - I love your positivity which shines through, and I think it will definitely help you to tackle your weight. Have you looked at the NHS website pages for the 12 week structured plan, as it does have lots of information and advice regarding healthy eating and exercise. I can see you are doing the C25k and you're going to continue with that on the treadmill - good luck with it all, it sounds really great. I've never run that far - occasionally I've done 5k, and I did enjoy that.
This is a great community, and there are lots of friendly and supportive people here, with similar aims and goals.
Looking forward to hearing how you're getting on, so hope you'll post and let us know.
Hi & welcome. I want to lose a total of 190 lb so you are in good company. I have managed to gain over 7 stone in 13 years after losing 3, so similar to you but a slightly larger moose! I have been overweight since I was about 9.
You sound like you have the right attitude and a plan so I wish you very good luck. Looks like you are off to a great start too. I am averaging about 2lb a week loss so it is certainly achievable.
You will find lots of support, inspiration and tips here, it is a great forum.
good luck... i'm 26 and in a similar situation to yourself... i've finally had enough and today i'm planning to do something about it... 7 stone to lose, myself... time to get on the bike!
Yep! Let's get going, no more excuses! The pain is temporary, quitting is forever
Good luck and you're doing a great job - keep up the good work. I'm also on the same journey...just slightly (ok massively, bigger than you!) If you want to chat/help each other out message me
Well done on your weight loss so far! Your determination is amazing. I'm 27 and also have about 9 maybe even 10 stone to lose. I'm doing the NHS 12 week programme but tracking my calories on my fitness pal. Feel free to add me on there GillianSandi1024.
Good for you. Hope all works out for you and if you have any motivational tips so could certainly do with some. You have a great positive attitude that I will follow and hope that inspires you to continue.
