Just starting out but it seems like a hell of a mountain to climb.....

Ok so I am at a point where I know I have to do this but it seems so hard when I think of the big picture and how much I need to lose overall. So I have just managed to get my head around the fact that I need to take one step at a time and work hard which is fine but I realise that my confidence in my ability to lose weight is really low!

But I know I can do it and so its time to stop talking and do differently from now on.......

I have around 4-5 stones to lose altogether and like I said earlier, I have just got my head around not thinking of it as such a mountain but something that takes time and patience

Good Luck to all of you in your journey :)

You need to do it. It's true it's not easy at first, but it gets easier and it's worth it. And you will be able to do it if you start making healthier choices. Take it seriously and put yourself first! Good luck!

Hi Tasha, I'm just finishing week one and tbh following the calories has been not too bad but gone over by a couple of hundred this weekend. I've got 4-5 stone to lose also, so it's going to be a long slog but will be worth it in the end. Any weight off is good as it's not going on! This site is great so many inspirational people that have already done it and helpful advice. I've got the myfitnesspal app which means I can log my calories daily. Good luck and keep positive :-)

Hey welcome to the group plenty of supportive and helpful people here. You seem to be in a good frame of mind, it is a long journey and is hard work but so worth it. I still have 6st to lose so understand how overwhelming it can seem. Break it down into smaller goals i.e. a st at a time much more managable. Once you start to see the changes in yourself and the scales your confidence in yourself will grow. Best tips i can give is:

1. Take it a day at a time and plan food where possible

2. Dont just rely on scales to judge your progress, one week i didnt lose weight but lost inches on my waist

3. Find what helps you to stay motivated, i have a weight loss scrapbook and motivation box (i like crafts)

4. Take advantage of this forum everyone here understands what you are going through and are really helpful and supportive.

5. Dont let setbacks hold you back or slide you back into old habits, learn from them and keep moving forward

Good luck with your weight loss :-)

Yes you can Tasha, but read up the signs of an impending (female) heart problem before you start the kind of exercise regime that I am using.

I've been on it 9 days using two 1000 cal. days and five 1900 cal. days and putting in 600 minutes cycling/fast walking/ strenght-exercise to avoid losing muscle and dropped 5lb so far.

Little and often seems to be the recommended way to exercise. Don't forget that carrying heavy shopping or children is exercise too.

Courage is needed because your weight WILL fluctuate from day to day so don't get put off by, say, an apparent increase on the preceeding day. It is what's happening over weeks that counts.

I did go over my limit once last week but still good progress so far. Hope you can do the same.

If it's any consolation, I have 6 stone to lose, starting tomorrow. The way I like to look at it is that I have to lose 7lbs; I just have to do it 12 times. You don't put on weight a stone at a time, so focus on losing a pound at a time and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how your confidence grows. If you 'fall off the wagon' once in a while, don't beat yourself up about it and don't give up; just get back on and start again where you left off.

Love a lot of us are in the same boat 😊. I reckon I've got six stone to lose ...... You're right, it is a big mountain but again you're right, small steps, small goals, patience & understanding of the challenges you're going to face and overcoming them ( by hook or by crook !) the slower you take it, the more time you give yourself to adjust to healthier food choices .... that sounds boring I know but there are thousands of lower fat recepies around that you can batch cook and have ready to eat in minutes, and they taste really good !

All the best, lots of luck, trierisme xxx
