Hi I am new to this site, my partner has had two heart attacks and needs to lose weight, any tips or recipes would be great
nhs.uk/livewell/loseweight/... There is lots of help and advice on this site and you will see that most people using this forum count calories. Some use various apps and websites etc. I started using the recording sheets for the 12 weeks but now use a spreadsheet which I input my meals into. I have a wee book by Carolyn Humpfries called the pocket calorie counter which has most foods and gives calories by sensible portion sizes.
For things like pasta and rice I find it essential to weigh to get portions right but most stuff is by tablespoons or pieces.
One key thing is to not get too hungry as then you will likely eat something well OTT. Eat often with healthy snacks.
I suspect that your partner will have been given advice about exercise and this was also a key to me losing weight (and changing shape for the better!). Good luck to you both

Thank you for your reply, I have downloaded the 12 weekplan, just working out meal plan for the week.
I also think it's helpful to eat as early as possible in the evening. You can always have a little snack before bed (a crisp bread smeared with marmite and topped with low-fat cottage cheese does it for me, as I am scared of night hunger!)

Make sure you get a good amount of fibre in your diet, increase it slowly if you are not used to having it. . Go for whole grain bread, brown rice, lots of veg and some fruit. Get the best quality protein you can. Keep processed foods and sugar to a minimum. The quality of the food you eat is as important as the amount of calories.
Have you been given any advice from your doctor? Omega 3 is sometimes recommended to keep the heart healthy.
