protein based snacks

Can anyone suggest some protein based snacks ? I am using Tesco Health and wellbeing food diary and it breaks down what I have eaten everyday and I have noticed that my carbs are consistently up and protein way below the recommended for my calorie allowance so I need to change what I eat.

I also have the same problem - always seem to be higher than I want on the carbs and lower on the protein. I find it hard to get the protein in without ending up eating too much fat as well! A few higher protein snacks that I sometimes have are:

- low fat dairy (e.g. yoghurt, low fat cheese)

- Handful of nuts or edamame beans

- homous and veg sticks (I make my own as shop bought can be really high calorie!)

- tuna salad on crackers/thin breads

- skinny latte

I've found one of my problems was that I didn't get much protein with breakfast because I used to just have cereal. The carb/protein balance is better when I have toast with a poached egg; bread with a slice of ham or sliced chicken breast; toast with nut butter.

Let me know if you come up with any other ideas!

tbh i use meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch so apart from the carb content in those i dont eat carbs, possibly once a week ill maybe have wholemeal toast or a potato but on the whole i have cut carbs from my diet completely and have never felt healthier :) i nibble on lidl seedmix which is good for protein and gives a wee energy boost and is a tasty wee snack and i also ocassionally have my protein bars from the same range of shakes i use and theyre incredibly tasty and actually cheaper than alot of the stuff sold in shops, i tend now after 6 months not to track my food intake anymore i now instinctively know what agrees with me and what doesnt its definately about lifestyle changes, even when i go out for meals now i often ask to mix and match my menus swapping potatoes for salad cos cous etc the right kinds of carbs arent as bad its just knowing what agrees better with your digestive system and about massively reducing portion sizes, i struggle now to eat plates full of food my 11 year old now eats twice the intake i do per day and my 7,9 year olds eat a little more than me !
