hi dear, Please control your sugar intake, soft drinks and tea with sugar, it will help you and walk around 2-4 km in 24 hours, just with in one month the results will be with you. I had tried it just 2 weeks ago and found milestone results. without any extra efforts, or with any use o weight loss tablets. regards

Read Dr. Michael Moseley's 'The Fast Diet', also known as the 5:2 diet. I've lost 2+ stone over 6 months this way but most important that weight was FAT, specifically the dangerous sort called visceral fat around my middle. It is not a quick fix but you can do it: It will lower your diabetes risk and the science behind the diet is interesting. You do need to exercise as well. Forget expensive gyms get out in the countryside and go for a brisk walk for at least half an hour at least every other day. The fresh air will make you feel great. Get a dog - good incentive for walking. Good Luck!

Although exercise has a lot of health benefits such as keeping you supple it isn't very good for weight loss. You need to reduce your calorie intake. it doesn't matter which weight loss diet you use as long you're still getting a balanced diet. I found the NHS diet (on their website) very good. At 1400 calories a day for a woman you shouldn't get too hungry on it.

I agree, I used to eat healthy and not over drink, but realized that I ate too much. Also, used to drink a bottle of NZ Sav Blanc a day, so easy to do it. Now I no longer drink, no juice, just water! Still love my coffee with sugar, not strong enough to quit that! And my PT said: any type of physical activity is goog for you in general, but you will only be losing weight by controlling your calorie intake! You could eat too much. Use the BMI calculator to get a good idea of how many calories YOU need, we are all different. I am 30 years old, gardener, so always active but had 83 kg 6 weeks ago, I am now down to 76kg and following the 12 week NHS plan, works great for me, I need 1300 calories to get to my healthy weight. My BMI is down from 30.8 to 28.9. It's difficult and confusing with food at times, but whatever I eat or do, don't go over 1300 cal. Good luck!

Well done for keeping up with the exercise. I hope that even if you haven't lost weight you have noticed you feel more fit anyway - exercise is good for many more reasons than just weight loss :)

In my experience losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise. To lose 1lb per week you need to eat around 500kcal less than you "burn" through normal daily activity and exercise. Even vigorous exercise (like running) does not burn that many calories. E.g. for me a 30 minute run is no more than 300kcal. The bad news is that unless you watch your diet as well, you probably won't see any weight loss.

Please have a look at the NHS weight loss pages for lots of advice. Many people here are following the 12 week NHS weight loss plan, which you can download from the link

My suggestion is to start with working out how many calories you consume per day at the moment. It may very well be more than you expect! Before I started trying to lose weight I knew that I ate more than than I should, but I did not think my intake was that high. After working out calories I realised that on many days I was over 3000kcal, and that I ate or drank things that were very high in calories without realising (e.g. vanilla latte, too big portions of pasta). The next step is work out ways to reduce your calorie intake to make a deficit. If you manage that you should see your weight start coming down. You don't need rush into making lots of changes all at once. For example, reducing sugary drinks or starting to weigh portions using a measuring scale can have a big impact.

Good luck!!

just have to cut down on some foods & stick to it... also up the exercise as it is the key to weight loss... it keeps you fit & tones you up... but you have to eat less of the unhealthy foods such as cakes, white bread, butter & have . less rice , potatoes & bread etc....

Stick to lean meat, fish , eggs plus loads of green veg , salad & fruit......& use a tablespoon of olive oil...for cooking etc

I don't know whether you partake in alcohol... but that can be a stimulant to eat... Learn to count calories & have less than 1400 a day & I'm sure you will lose weight... but the best thing you can do is to find the will power to do it.... & for goodness sake , don't go down the slimming pills route !!!! good luck....
