Is there a scheme similar to the couch 25k that can be downloaded for a walking programme.

Hi dietjunky :)

The c25k plan builds up, so you start by only doing 60 seconds jogging, followed by 60 seconds walking, for the 30 mins [with a 5 min warm up walk and a 5 min cool down walk at the end]. Each time it gets gradually more about the running, and less about the walking.

But the term 'running' is used lightly; they don't expect you to be sprinting around a track.. It's a 5 mins brisk walk to start, and the runs are 'just a gentle jog'.

I'm currently on week 6 of the programme and I love it. I don't run, I just jog, but when you feel more comfortable to do so you can speed up. Would it be an option for you to do the jogging and walking? It improves your stamia no end!
