I have lost weight on the Weight Watchers diet but I am considering changing to a 'Clean Food' lifestyle. Are there any downsides?

Hi marmite 1980

You know, Tosca whatever her name is, realy didn't lose umpteen pounds through eating XYZ diet.

She lost is by having a calorie deficit. And that is the key to the process. A calorie deficit, whereby, on average the calories you take in minus the calories you burn off in activity/exercise are less than those needed to maintain your body mass. That and encouraging your body to use its fat stores rather than its glycogen or protein, is bascially how you lose body fat.

In many ways the idea of "Clean Food", i.e. unprocessed and natural food is highly commendable. For sure, many foods are nutritionally impoverished by processing and many end up with increasing amounts of additives fo dubious healthiness. For me, the driver would be that we increasingly seem to discover that the food industry blatantly 'has us over' (horsemeat passed off as beef, cheap fish passed off as cod or haddock, etc., etc.)

My only reservation would be to ensure - as for any case where you limit the range of food you eat - that you do take in the full range of nutrients. However important that is normally, it is more important when losing weight a) because you normally take in less food to get all the nutrients in with and b) you need them to help your body adjust to the new lower weight regimes.

Beyond that, I would have thought, if that's what presses your buttons, then do it.

Good luck with it.

Hi Angel

I'm on the blood group diet and it tells you what foods are toxic to your body. You should be able to find it through this website.

I can't exercise due to health problems but I'm still loosing weight so can't be too bad!

Hope it helps you, keep us updated on your progress.

Take care,
