What should I ask GP at follow up appointment after blood test ?

Hi, I’m 28 and presumed to have PCOS. Blood tests will confirm. My weight and other symptoms have rocketed in the last few years. I’ve gone from a 26in waist to a 32in. My body shape has totally morphed and it’s the lowest I’ve ever felt about myself. I have been very cautious and aware of my diet etc... After 7 years of speaking to GP’s, I finally went back and an empathetic (young, female) GP took one look at me and said PCOS.

What should I ask my GP about or for at this next appt ? Yasmin/ Saxenda / metformin /something else ?

Any diet and supplement recommendations also welcome.

Feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed. Not sure where to start and what to do as all previous attempts at maintaining my weight and female features seem to have failed.

Hi,

It can be so confusing when you are first diagnosed so I completely understand. I did a lot of reading and research and have been trying to control mine through diet alone… I have completely cut out sugar to control my insulin and therefore testosterone levels and I have been working on flattening my glucose curves. The book which really helped me was ‘The Glucose Revolution’ by Jessie Inchauspe.

Having not had a period for months, mine have now completely regulated, my skin has cleared up (not completely but much better) and I have more energy and better moods.

Best of luck xxx

Give Kym Campbells 30 day pcos challenge a try, some of the dietary advice given by the NHS can be counterproductive with regards to pcos.
