I’m looking to understand the depth of tinnitus in the community and wondered if there were any national statistics of confirmed cases over the years to see if the tinnitus is one of those afflictions that is getting worse every year.
Has anyone seen this type of information anywhere either in numbers or graphically?

Many people get tinnitus, even young children.
One in three people get tinnitus at some point in their lives.
One in seven people has tinnitus that doesn’t go away.
Some people do not mind having tinnitus.
Some people find it annoys them.
Some people find it really upsets them.
We would ever know, really, because I don’t think GP’s report such things to anyone - though I stand to be corrected
I would suspect that ENT would have these statistics as patients are referred to them.
I’m looking to see if it’s officially in the increase via the annual stats and obviously if a tinnitus medical group are dealing in tinnitus then they must have at their disposal details and stats in a yearly basis- without records and research they are not a serious entity so I guess there are stats somewhere in the NHS or without it will never truly get funding and investigations!
not everyone reports their T, especially if its mild. Apparently my son has had it since he was young. (now mid 30s) I remember him saying" what's that noise" when he was about 5. I would say "what noise". He's says he quite likes it , so he's never gone to a doctor. 4 other people I know also have never told their doctor.
Meaningful statistics are hard to come by as they relate to publicly available data, which wouldn't take into account the figures for people who never see a doctor or don't think of tinnitus as being something that is unusual.
Figures indicate 13% of adults in the UK or 7.1 million people experience ongoing tinnitus. The statistics for Europe indicate a figure of around 14.7% of people reporting tinnitus, with 1.2% classifying their condition as 'severe'.

Thank you, I get it that some people don’t report it but for those who do I would like to see the yearly data and analysis of possible causes and indeed any that manage to get a cure?
That would certainly seem like a Freedom of Information request, having looked at a representative FOI request to Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2023 -whatdotheyknow.com/request/...
I would imagine that the data would have to be in an accessible format to be made readily available, which doesn't seem to be the case in this example.

Does anyone feel like Covid and the Covid vaccine caused more people to get tinnitus, particularly temporary?
That’s a great question and one that I asked at my ENT appointment to which the reply was he didn’t know but there were more cases of tinnitus coming through than previous but had no data to quantify or specify
Almost certainly. After AZ 2 I got it ( no other reason, it was too obviously linked and I literally got dizzy spells walking home ) and I recall J&J labelling their Vax as having T as a potential side effects in Europe packaging. Everyone Inc this site continues to waffle about " not enough evidence " but for me it's a no brainer.
Yes I think you are right, not just on Tinnitus but on many other illnesses and issues, the cover up is deafening!
Sorry I do not know any numbers or statistics, but what I do know is there have been more cases of Tinnitus since Covid.

I have a friend who developed tinnitus after his last vaccine. It lasted for 7 or so months. His doctor believed it was the vaccine. When I got Covid last December, as the virus came on, with onset of fever my ears rang for twenty minutes as loud as a fire truck in emergency. After that passed, my tinnitus continued at a lower level. It has started to get less loud gradually and my doctor believes it will go away completely. He is not whole-heartedly saying it is due to Covid, but not denying either.

interesting that while exploring possibilities for cause that you wish to shut this down based on some outdated belief of conspiracy
We are all hear to find a cure to our ailments and in doing so must be allowed to freely explore avenues of causation without being dictated to or having threads closed down.
It appears that you can’t offer much towards and data on numbers etc and have not ias I see to date offered any positive hope on any avenues of potential cures and yet you wish to close a thread down, not the country I was brought up in nor what I expect from a supposed medical adjudicator who’s only concern should be on finding a cure and not on closing threads with relevant topical areas.
Completely agree. It is well known that both covid and the vaccine can cause or worsen tinnitus. I think it's important to acknowledge this.
