Hi Seabob,

Your somatic tinnitus is exactly like mine, although it seems like mine is probably worse as it is loud all the time and deafening when I eat. I was also told I did not have TMJ. The only diagnosis is that I have likely muscle issues in my neck and jaw. However, I had a course of Botox treatment which yielded no results at all. Sometimes this can help.

Can I ask, have you had any dental treatment around the time or just prior to the onset of your Tinnitus? I did, and I am wondering if this is the cause .

I sympathise 😞

Hi...no dental treatment at the time...i had migraines and work stress and then the T 😔 i think its definitely muscle tension and ofcourse the nerves run through the face, jaw etc etc so might be worth asking your dentist?? but whether they will do anything?? just back from Bowen Therapy she said my neck is still very tight, recommends yoga...she said its years of tension, is very common, she hadnt heard anyone say about hissing T but thats possibly due to some not knowing what it is?? i have messaged Julian Cowan Hill before about this and he said its all muscle, stress, tension etc. all subtypes of T are hard to deal with, main thing is to try and relax the whole body.

Yep. That was the idea of having Botox; it was hoped that it would relax the muscles. I am going to see a physio who specialises in face and neck next month. We’ll see what happens there.
