Natural masking

Lovely day, sat by the Vienne River, next to an old stone bridge and a weir. Feeling well chilled out, then realised that it's partly due to the gentle continuous sound of the water rushing over the weir. Lucky you if you have T and live near a weir! I'm hopeing the white noise in my new hearing aids will have the same effect.

Hi WM72. How lovely! The sound of water is wonderful for T . Incredibly soothing. I live near the sea and often go down to the beach at high tide and listen to the waves. It brings me a real sense of peace.

Hello, I also live by the coast, the sea and also the wind will block the T. nicely but this masking will be punished later. Sounds like you do not have this issue.

Yes and no. I'm deaf in one ear so I still hear my T in spite of the sea. It's nice to hear the sound of water in my good ear . It brings me some relief but my T is always with me via my deaf ear - no matter what I do. If that makes sense.

So your T is louder than the ocean, how on earth can you sleep. I can loose track of mine quite easily and worry it is being masked although I have the hyperacusis thing as well and every time I go out I get the rock concert aftermath sound to some degree, a bus ride to a three hour hospital appointment took two days to recover although the T was hot heard until after the two days and at the usual pace, I think it may have been feeding off the ambient racket. Cheers.

I didn't explain very well. My T isn't louder than the sea . I just can't hear the sea in my deaf ear . I can only hear my T . Sorry you've got H as well. It's not easy to manage both at the same time.

hi, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, I don’t live by the sea but like you I get a real sense of peace when I’m near it. I do feel that being out in nature - sea or countryside, just gives you a calm that, for me, helps with T. Kim x
