My tinnitus has been bad since 2020 but it's got much worse in the last 4 months. i think it's from additional loud noise exposure at clubs and raves. this riddles me with regret and anxiety and im worried it will be this loud forever. It's especially bad in one ear now. I don't know what to do and i'm in a very desperate place. does anyone have any advice or help in any way, id be very grateful.

Thanks :)

we’ll pinktiger, don’t beat yourself up about it. It’s done now as long as you protect your ears at future loud events. There are some tips about this on the Tinnitus UK website.

It’s quite possible that the tinnitus will reduce to your previous level.

Rather than the noise, I’m guessing that it’s the anxiety about it that is upsetting you - so this is what you need to concentrate on. Calming breaths, for starters. Again on the TUK website are lots of ways you can help yourself, so have a good read of it.

I’m sure others on this forum will give you their take on this too.

Hi PT123. Welcome. The best thing to do is take it from here - as Rosie says. Have at look on the Alpine website. They have a number of options for protecting your ears so you can choose one that suits you. In terms of coping right now just take one day at a time. Keep as calm as possible. Do things to help yourself relax. Quiet natural sounds or soft music can be very helpful. If you need to talk you can call Tinnitus UK on 0800 018 0527 (Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm)

Iv had 4 virus since November and my T has always increased but has always come back to my normal level, the last virus i had was the worst its only this week where iv got better and my T has started to calm down again. I also went to see my son who is in a band a few weeks ago and that made my T louder, i was very conscious of being there knowing it could effect my T and it did. Iv tried to live my life as normal as i can, but i do try to stay away from loud sounds and noises, its something us T sufferers haft to think about all the time. Your T will calm down again, but try and stay away from loud noises, and yes i am sure your anxiety and stress levels are high, the only thing i can say is get your self out in to the countryside go for long walks listen to nature and walk by rivers and streams and breath in the air, i wish you all the luck , take care.

"Quies" are wax earplugs .Much better than the foam ones. Don't let any noise in .Good for loud places. Warm them first . then push into ears . I tweek them slightly so I can hear a little bit. Guess they do the same job as ear defenders, but no-one can see them.

I find my T goes up and down - and one ear only has it intermittently. Hold out hope that your experience is a passing phase. Take care 😊

Hi. Try and protect your ears more. I see lots of people at clubs wearing ear protection. I have got clear ear protectors than are difficult to notice but I see others with yellow, green, blue ones to be cool!

I hope you T returns to normal soon. Im sure it will.

Hello - I have bad and very loud T from DJing for almost 30 years - I know all about how much damage Clubs and Raves can do if you are not protecting your ears, however do not despair - you need to work on acceptance, which takes time - think of the Super loud clock in a room you just get used to over time, your mind can/will learn to filter it out to the point it no longer upsets you. I am still Djing weekly on my own DAB radio show and play out as well - ALWAYS with ear plugs - I even do my radio show from the studio in ear plugs and its kept me doing the thing i love. Try EarPeace, Eggs, Alpine plugs - Loop ear plugs are cool too (i play out in those). Have faith things can improve but PLEASE take care of your ears. Also your anxiety will make it worse, when you start to accept the Tinnitus the anxiety lessens which in effect lessens your perception of the Tinnitus. I've had it for 23 years now - I know how you feel.

Hi PT123 please don't beat yourself up as hard as it is not to, I have been there, done that n got the tshirt. Going on 20 years with T and last 6 months been the absolute worst but holding on to hope a cure or relief is on its way for us all. It's tough I know and I do hope you have friends and family you can talk to, we're always here too. Have you been to your ENT or Audiology dept? If not make an appointment. All the best 😊
