Hi all. I have had tinnitus since last year which came about after either having Covid or the jab. Not sure which. I had my ears checked and it was all normal. In January I had vertigo and Labyrinthitis with high BP. This was resolved with antibiotics .Recently I had a headache followed by a high BP which normalized after 5 days. I also have a tapping in my right ear which beats a lot faster than my heart. I am really struggling with this tapping and it’s making me very miserable. This morning I had an IAM and post fossa MRI.

Hello, I had a tapping in my right ear a couple of years ago, it came out of nowhere and lasted about 2 weeks then disappeared it came back several times after that before disappearing again. I had to sleep with my thumb in my right ear, then I couldn’t hear the tapping. It’s the tiny muscles in the inner ear going into spasm, the same as you can get with eyelids. It’s called MEM’s tinnitus, it should resolve after a while, otherwise there is surgery to cut the muscle. It’s also called tensor tympani syndrome.

Hi thanks for this. I am waiting on my MRI results. The thumb in the ear stops the tapping. However It comes back as soon as I remove. The tapping is really going crazy and it doesn’t stop until I fall asleep. Starts as soon as I wake up.

Hopefully it will soon stop. I did see someone using a hairdryer to stop the spasms, blowing the air into the ear. But I don’t know if that works and you would have to use a quiet dryer. You could try taking a magnesium supplement too, it’s supposed to be good for ears. I had the tapping for about two weeks then it stopped. Several months later it came back for a week, but after that it went away. I hope the MRI is all clear.

yes, the tapping is a bit disconcerting isn’t it - I’ve had it on a few occasions for a few minutes only and it’s gone away. I treat it like another manifestation of the variabilities of life.

Same things happened to my sister after taking the jab. You should fill in a yellow card for compensation.

Hi Margo I think you can only do that if you report symptoms not long after taking the Jab. I looked on the government site at the side effects listed and tinnitus wasn’t listed. They only list issues with the heart. I will have a look on the MHRA website.

I would still pursue it, it is widely known now ( not in mainstream media/BBC) that tinnitus and deafness is an issue after the jab along with a host of other things. Good luck!

I got my tinnitus right after the first vaccine but never contracted covid to this day. I now have all the symptoms of manières disease but trying to get a diagnosis on the NHS is near impossible. Vertigo was by far the worse symptom but found great relief using acupuncture for that and the ear fulness but sadly doesn't help the tinnitus.
