Worsening tinnitus and spaciness - vaccine/menopause?

Hello everyone,

I had my second covid booster six weeks ago and two days after I developed a spacey/dizzy, unreal feeling, which remains today. The fairly mild tinnitus that I’d had for over 30 years started to get increasingly louder about a week later. Following an MRI which unfortunately significantly worsened my tinnitus, the tinnitus has continued to get progressively worse and I’m not sure what to do and I’m finding it difficult to cope with. I saw a very helpful audiologist last week who gave me some good coping strategies and balance exercises, but I feel like I have a moving target that won’t settle down. The tinnitus is genuinely getting worse every day and my ears hurt and I don’t feel like this is normal. This whole nightmare began a couple of days after the covid jab. I don’t know if it could have caused it or whether it could have jump-started some menopausal symptoms ie dizziness and worsening tinnitus, or whether it might have happened anyway. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thank you so much for any replies.

Hi MooseHouse. Yes, my tinnitus got much worse after I had the 3 corona vaccinations ( Pheizer) and worsened again in February 22, where I got covid infection. I got tinnitus 6 years ago after an Inner ear middle infection.

When I had the corona infection I got pain in my ears, earfullness , problems popping my ears. It has not been better, I still have earfullness and cannot pop my ears . Hope your problems will settle down again.

Yes I also got vertigo/increased T with the first vaccine. Almost to the point of wondering whether to get the second but did go ahead cos of risks.

My T has definitely worsened over the last few years and am perimenopausal. Had hoped my HRT might help but sadly not. Although it’s helped with my joint pain!

My ears aren’t painful though but they do ring all the time in both ears and am considering another visit to the Dr. Could you have an infection coupled with everything else?

Stressful times really make it worse and this time of year can be difficult. Try and be patient with yourself. Relaxation and meditation exercises can really help.

Take care.

Thanks for your reply. No infection, although I was convinced there might be one for a while. Good luck and thanks for your advice.
