Tinnitus

I’ve never had tinnitus before. I had a brain tumour removed Jan 16 and have had lots of MRI scans. High pitched ringing started mainly in left ear in January this year. Driving me nuts!! I’ve been to GP who referred me to ENT. Had hearing test (bit low) so now waiting for hearing aids and appointment with tinnitus advisor at hospital. Any advice welcome and I ask what music system will help especially at night when I cannot get to sleep. I have been very stressed with life and I know that doesn’t help.

Hi. I developed tinnitus too after brain tumour removal (cyberknife) bit i think it’s the 18 months of stress and anxiety that has brought it on. I am using the free ‘mynoise’ app to modify sounds like waves so that they almost fully mask my tinnitus (leave some tinnitus sound so that you can habituate to it). I find it really lowers my stress level. Plus download the free ‘Neural Symphony’ sound for it which is supposed to be good for habituation.

I have a sound pillow for at night although I’m taking drugs to get to sleep at the moment. I hope to wean myself off those.

Look up Julian Cowan Hill on YouTube he has some really helpful videos. Explains how you can habituate
