The theory around it being worse after a nap is that when you awaken, your body does a kind of systems check to make sure everything's working as it should. When it finds something amiss with your hearing or whatever it is that's causing your tinnitus, it ramps up the tinnitus signal to let you know there's something wrong.
Not much you can do about it other than avoiding taking naps.
