Me and my T

I'm aware it's there all the time, I'm probably one of the lucky one's as it not that loud and as I type I thinking that I will miss it if it did go away, it's been constantly with me for some years now. During the working day I don't really notice it, occasionally I will stop what I doing and listen just to see if its still with me and rather oddly its reassuring its still whistling away. How do you measure the loudness of T ? Does it block other sounds. Ultimately I have learnt to accept it. I use to do a lot of scuba diving and it reminds of a similar white noise you get under water - probably what caused it ! Another thing I have noticed just when I'm just waking up it extremely loud music, its rare, but where on earth does come from? as soon as I'm fully awake its gone.... any one had that ?

Thanks for listening

J....

The only real way to measure your T as far as I know is called Minimum Masking Level. How loud does a sound have to be to drown out your T. Mine is around 65db on a good day and about 85 on a bad day. It's not exact obviously.

I can't comprehend thinking I'd miss it if it was gone. I can't wait to see the back of the annoying & unwelcome resident in my noggin. I would say you're one of the extremely lucky ones who has been able to achieve effective habituation.

You are one of the lucky one my tinnitus is super high I have special hearing aids with music some time they help and sometimes they don't.

I totally get you cuz mine isn’t that high either but what bothers is that it keeps changing tunes. Like sometimes its high pitched tune sometimes a hissing or buzzing but it can be masked pretty easily if i distract myself by the daily work. And i do that too! Closing my ears to listen if its still there. And sometimes it feels as if it isnt there but it is and has changed its tune. Idk whether I’ll miss it or not but i am glad that i have more good days then bad ones.

Thanks Ruud1boy, Freddy17 and BlackPink01 of course I suppose my writing was a bit tongue in cheek and my apologies if it came across frivolous. I'm not entirely complacent with it and thats probably why, I'm reading up on it and asking questions. As Blackpink101 mentioned I find that during the day in a busy office environment I barely notice it, however working at home today the levels are up. Reading the threads I can see many people are really distressed and others not so much. Sadly I can't remember what silence was like. Many thanks for the replies
