For those with a real high pitch of tinnitus. How do you deal with it.

Hi Freddy17, I just suck it up and try and get on with it as best I can! Unfortunately when nothing else works that's what I have to try and do!

Thank you for your reply. I guess I got to do the same.
Well, once you've been down the path and tried all that's on offer, within reason, to try and distract your brain acceptance for me is my only option but take heart as many on here attain 'habitation' (spot the deliberate error) It's just for some it can take longer than others! Onwards and Upwards!
You can try a signal generator app on your smartphone and see if you can replicate the tone, it helped me to some extent although it's not a cure. Do it at your own risk though, and at the lowest volume level. Others have found some benefit too, see my post from a while ago... if you can't follow the link just do a cut-and-paste into your browser's address bar. Let me know if you have problems.

I’ve got hearing aids fitted with masking sounds so that helps a bit. I go out for walks often so the sounds of traffic and nature in the countryside distract me. At home I keep the radio on all the time which is another distraction for me. At night in bed I try using sound apps on my phone though I never sleep soundly. Basically it’s a case of trying to get on with your life and not think too hard about the tinnitus. Good luck!
I have hearing aids with masking music as well but my tinnitus get so loud that they don't even help me.
Hi Freddy,
My tinnitus is also high pitched and some days it drives me to the point of insanity, especially when it spikes, so I know how you feel. I have tried all sorts of things to try and get the volume down, mostly without success but I have now identified the main trigger which in my case is tiredness. If I do too much and get really worn out, I can almost guarantee a spike will ensue. Nowadays, I pace myself through the day and take plenty of breaks from whatever I am doing and I find that helps. I also distract my brain with various hobbies and always have music playing in the background. Getting outdoors regularly also helps a lot where you are surrounded with sounds and and they take the focus off the head noises. I play several instruments (badly!) but it's enjoyable and good therapy and seems to quieten things down a bit. When the spikes get to an almost unbearable level and I feel like screaming, I find a really hot steamy bath seems to take the edge off it for a while so that's maybe something you could try for some temporary relief. I was on a low dose of Amitrip for a while and in the early stages, they helped me cope, so if you haven't tried them, ask your doctor. It's such an unpredictable condition so what works for me might not work for you but hopefully you'll find something soon that helps you cope with it. All the best.
