Questions for Endocrinologist

Today is the day, I am finally seeing an endocrinologist. Any suggestions of things to ask? Trying to be optimistic about the appointment but quietly cautious. Below are the questions I have so far:

- FT3 measurement to ensure adequate conversion

- Pregnancy monitoring and appropriate FT4 and TSH levels throughout pregnancy stages

- Antibody levels TSI, TgAB, TPO

- Checking parathyroid and pituitary gland function

- Elevated gastric parietal cell antibodies - implications? NHS website advises hypoparathyroidism is associated with autoimmune conditions such as pernicious anaemia: nhs.uk/conditions/hypoparat...

- Thyroid ultrasound?

- TPO always negative - implications on diagnosis? Postpartum thyroiditis

- Will being on levothyroxine create a long term need due to thyroid function suppression of this is temporary postpartum thyroiditis?

- Co-factor levels check - iodine, selenium, zinc, copper, magnesium, B12, B9, iron, vitamin D, calcium

- Low bone density link to thyroid / parathyroid? Investigations?

Good luck with your appointment Curious123. I hope all your questions get answered. Perhaps print them off, so you don’t forget, as appointments can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Yeah, with a screaming toddler who was overtired from being woken up early for the appointment - it was fun! Thankfully the Endo has young children too so was understanding and could relate!
