How much T3 do you keep as backup?

I have to order a repeat T3 prescription in the next couple of day from a private GP at a lab and as I will be going away from home for approx 3 months I will have to request a large amount. It made me think that I should probably keep a reasonably large bank of T3 since running out could be very nasty with this condition.

Does anybody else do this and if so, how far ahead do you stockpile for and is it problematic to get large amounts prescribed privately for this purpose.

I keep up to 6 months supply of my privately prescribed liothyronine T3 medication. I also get t3 prescribed from the NHS which I keep 3 months supply. I’m very focused on ensuring I always have in date T3 and T4 medications for a good few months in my stocks. Maybe as I was a supply chain manager most of my working life, I always look ahead and try to avoid any stock out situations. Also I can never be without these medications or I’ll just be in a tight mess.

Thank you for that. I think you are right to do that and I will attempt to do similar although I don't have the energy just yet to try for the NHS prescription Maybe in a few months......

If you are going abroad you will find that most pharmacies in Europe and some other places, actually sell a form of Levothyroxin over the counter, usually at a reasonable price. I always stock up on some when abroad just in case there are problems with supply here.

Oh, that's useful to know as I will hopefully be in Portugal later in the year.
